I have an update for everyone.

Things are slowing moving along, but I have the support of the local congress now and should be able to return within the next couple weeks. On a side note tho, my wife has been coming to Canada to visit me every weekend. Well, when she returned this sunday with my vehicle (which of course is now red flagged) she once again was pulled into immigration. She was once again threatened, accused of smuggling some of my belongings into the country, had the car searched, and generally just harrassed. I found out afterwards had she had any of my stuff with her she could indeed have been arrested for smuggling. Kinda makes me wonder if this is how Americans treat all their fellow citizens who marry Canadians. I wonder if we'd joined the US in their little war if I'd just get a pat on the back and no hassle when I cross the border.

Farley Mowat got banned, and even your's truely got banned once.

Back to the original point in this thread...

I have to ask - did we ever have any put with the US anyway? Softwood, potatos, steel, etc.....

If not, who cares. Let the sycophants cry.

Best of luck, Gangrenous. Border horror stories, where do I start? Coming back to Canada on Sept.13, 2001, yeah THAT sept. 13., my wife caught the eye of a Canadian border guard. Her crime? She couldn't remember the name of the hotel we stayed at the night before. They separated us for an hour and a half, tore the car apart, were generally ignorant and rude, and let us go after we declared we had no marlboro's or rolling rock beer. Luck of the draw, I guess. RCMP & OPP were very professional, but Canada Customs reminded me of keystone cops. It ain't funny how they can ruin you're life so easily, and I know how they can be on both sides!
This is definitely a sad case. Good idea for a new topic though, hell I think I'll start it. Good luck, Gangrenous!

I was in the US for a week. I was, I belive a Second Lieutenant, at the time. My friend, Capt. Phillips, and I went for a beer outside the Ft. Bragg Military center. (I'm in the Air Force, I'm a Major! :D) The beer there was $9.50 Canadian! I was asking the bartender if he could convert my money to American dollars. (Everything down there is so Damn expensive) then he yelled at me! :x What in God's Earth thinks he can yell at a Lieutenant and a Captain of the Air Force, just because he can't convert Canada's $ to American $. Then I said "The hell with you, I'm leaving." and walked outm of his god awful, crap "bar". When Amnericans need their money converted, we say "Yeah, sure, eh?" We're more respectful. Plus, my C.O., who wanted a tequila, yelled like crazy, for yelling at a "Great Canadian Officer." Thanks, Col.!

Sorry to hear that. Just so you know, people in the Ft Bragg area are assholes to us American soldiers as well. Even if you had American money, they would've found something else. It seems now that communities located outside of military bases are growing less tolerant of the military community, even though without them, their city's economy would collapse.

Well everyone, I finally received good news today. The US government has granted me parole finally for my misdemeanor 9 years ago. So it looks like I will be on my way home finally. Trust me, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed until I'm across the border tho. I'll be sure to let you all know how things turn out for me.

:D

I was down at Fort Bragg, and I was at the Canteen. Some jerkoff Private jumped the line, I was appalled at him! A Private budges in front of a Major! How rude is that? So, I walk up to him, tap him on the shoulder, and he says, "What the hell do you want? I'm talking with my buddy." I got pissed! I yelled at him, told him "That's no way to treat a Major!" I then talk to the C.O., my buddy Capt. McAllister, (the guy who was with me at Ft. Bragg, but he got his name changed after he was married.) and the Private? He got 12 hours altrene duty :D :D HA! That ought to teach him!
