I think I have finally figured it all out. The difference between the US and Canada is that American historical mini-series are about things like the US Civil War and slavery.
Canadian mini-series are about guys like :

I think the problem is that the US media needs to make history interesting and more exciting, while the CBC is all too happy to make history even less intersting.

Well a mini-series that is not about a politician would be a start so no to the Deif mini-series

Well a mini-series that is not about a politician would be a start so no to the Deif mini-series
CBC is making a mini-series about the 1972 summit series. I'm sure they will sneak a politician in there somewhere though, but at least it doesn't revolve around one.
