Ok since Harper wants to beef up Northern Defences, If you were the PM and the northern sensor system caught an american sub in our waters and If all attempts to engage the sub in communications failed and it was heading towards an Armed Icebreaker; What would you do? Split Second decision..,Just curious as to what everybody would do.

Armed with martini glasses and vermouth for all that ice.

Can anyone say BELLINI'S!!!!!!

hamiltonguyo @ Fri Jan 13, 2006 11:48 pm

we will have them if Harper is elected and keeps his promise

Tman1 @ Fri Jan 13, 2006 11:49 pm

Let them go and then report directly to the President portraying my dismay and give them a warning. If they do it again. BAM! allies or not, they shouldn't be doing that. Asserting Northern dominance doesn't end with words but with action. Of course the US will bitch and whine if we hit their multi-billion dollar sub but then again, they bombed four of our guys so whats a life compared to a sub times four?

sukhoi @ Fri Jan 13, 2006 11:50 pm

I would let it pass. If they wanted to sink the ship, it would have done it a long ways out.

The sub fleet stationed in the West Edmonton Mall would then be dispatched, via a secret under water passage, to the Beaufort Sea where they would intercept said interluder, neutralize it, transport it back to Edmonton and open a new Joey's Only restaurant.

Those subs are more hi-tech than those British POS we got.

Actually if you look stuff up the subs were quite good. The British only retired them because they decided all-nuclear was the way to go. They were tied up improperly cause the brits never planned to use them again. And although they weren't in great condition it turns out the chicoutimi was partly our fault...

Alert the position and ping the crap out of them to the tune of 'Oh Canada!' like a Greenpeace skip on a Japanese whaler. Remind them every second they are in our waters that it is OUR waters until they leave or engage. Force confrontation.

xerxes @ Sat Jan 14, 2006 10:44 am

Try and communicate with the sub. If that doesn't work, get the icebreaker to turn on its active sonar until the submariners can't take it anymore.

Open the hatches and offer doughnuts and coffee from Tim Horton's like a good neighbor should :D
