America is NOT a real Democracy.
When there are only two major parties to choose from, that is not a REAL Democracy. Where youÂ’re forced to choose from the lesser of the two evils, that is not a real democracy. The two parties are essentially the same party; the business party if you will, the Republican's and Democrats are just different factions, on different sides of the same coin.
It's hypocritical of America, to go around invading countries in the so-called "War on Terror", where they are doing the SAME thing back to what the alleged Arabs did on 9/11. The "Shock and Awe" we saw during the initial phase of the invasion, was in fact terrorism in it's self. Hell, "Shock and Awe" is practically the definition of Terrorism!
America is not a Democracy, it's an Empire.
The only way I see, that America could become a real democracy is if all the smaller, less known parties (exp the Green Party) formed a coalition (much like what happened in Canada), and took the fight to the business party, and reformed the government so that no one or two parties could have such a monopoly over the people.
The U.S. was intended to be a representive Republic with plenty of safeguards to prevent a tyranny of the majority over being a conventional democracy.
There's nothing wrong with a two party system, this is actually more competitive players than many countries have in effect, Japan for instance has been governed by its powerful Liberal Democratic Party for nearly every year since postwar elections took place. Both major parties span a huge amount of ideological ground and third parties tend to merely spilt votes more than accomplish anything worthwhile.
Who's had a monoply? Certainly not the GOP nor the DNC. It seems that looking back on this country's history the Conservative Party ruled the federal roost for most of our history until the late 60's and it's pretty much been all Liberal since then, no other other parties have really been competitive on the federal level both in the past and in the present unless either of the big boys fucks up, in effect we have a two party system.
There are plenty of parties, it's just Democrats and Republicans are the ones people in the US seem to agree most with and be a part of. How many parties do you really need before it starts to get confusing? Think if the US had 100 parties, then no one could really agree with anything and nothing would ever get done. The US people just have different points of view than other countries, and if the majority of people either agree with Republicans or Democrats, and the minority are for the liberals and independents, then I don't see how that's not democracy. Doesn't democracy usually end up being majority rule? How many parties can you really have, when there is either for, or against on certain issues? Just because there are two main parties doesn't mean a country isn't a democracy.
The two parties in the US do rule with a Iron grip. Glad I don't have to live in fear of being killed everyday like the Americans do. I feel like if I lived in the US, it would be like living in a middle eastern country, because the majority of Americans are brainwashed and ruled with an Iron grip. Glad I live in the most free country on the planet, Canada.
