It just pisses me off that the "Minutemen civilian patrol" setup camp on our border and some Chicano's in the U.S. are now making reference that even though there are 3 million Mexican illegally crossing the southern border ever year, Canada is the dangerous one, we are harboring the terrorist.

No. The problem here is illegal drugs, tobbaco, etc.
Canadians are running pot into the US so I doubt the US would see us as a viable fence.

   

Sure. I don't think it would do a blessed thing towards resolving any immigration or security issues, but it would keep the small handful who are nutty enough to sign up out in the forest, where they would be able to annoy far fewer people. A few might provide some needed fodder for bears, and others might, in the distant future, be dug out of glaciers, providing useful material for anthropologists. A good deal overall.

   

I find it funny that the second winter hits, the Minutemen on the Canadian border head home. Guess they don't want to become Minutemansicles!

What's the point of having our own patrols? People taking the law into their own hands (aka vigilantes) generally aren't much better than the criminals they are supposed to protect us from. I agree it will give survivalists up here something to do, but I for one, don't like relying on amateurs when it comes to security.

I say let the professionals watch the border. They know what they are doing and I'll trust their ability over a bunch of drunks with shotguns and binoculars anyday.

   

How about we have our minutemen fight the US' Minutemen and then we'll be rid of these clowns once and for all.

   

Lets string a volleybell net along the border. Play a few games with them. Lets show them that military intervention is not necessary!

   

Actually I started this thread late last night in anger. I was talking with a friend who lives in White Rock, BC.

He was saying that he heard that the U.S. was considering erecting a fence on the Canadian border. For now they have yellow construction tape up as a make shift fence.

The Minutemen gruop was pushing the idea. It Pissed me off!!!

   

It's probably best not to think about them too much. It's just a bunch of old men with too much time on their hands.

The current national policy taking shape in the USA with regards to the Mexican border would not be happening at all were it not for the Minutemen. Their actions have shamed the Bush Admin. and the Republicans into doing something - but still, what they are doing falls dreadfully short of what is needed.

Their actions on the Canadian border likewise are more to draw attention to things than to actually do anything.

Frankly, all the Minutemen really do is spot people illegally crossing and then they call the Border Patrol to come pick them up.

I don't see what is so controversial about that.
