Does anyone else think the US is way out of line? The UN told them they have to pay and guess what...we havent seen any money yet

The US is now poor...

Chek it out:

*in french, because I don't know to explain that*

Les Etats-Unis vont faire faillites. Pour remédier au problème, ils vont dévaluer leur monnais.

Hold on. How about all the free food we ship over all the time. Don't talk to me about dues. I already addressed this elsewhere. Take a look at whose land the UN sits on. I think our balance it ZERO.

The US is not bankrupt... but the SOftwood dispute is unfair. They broke NAFTA rules and the UN already rules in Canada's favor. ANd yes the US ignored the aboved mentioned.

I don't think that was the UN, you might be thinking of the NAFTA panel. If it's softwood your talking about anyway. Ha Ha softwood, sounds like a bad porno.

You dam right. We should pay the $5B to Canada, and continue the ignore the UN (short for UNecessary).

Just because the UN office is in the America doesnt mean the America own it.

America came up with NAFTA for Mexico, Canada and America. So far the only one to have to follow its rules is Mexico and Canada. If you can spend 300 Trillion dollars on oil you can pay back illegally aquired funds to Canada.

American @ Thu Nov 10, 2005 10:07 am

Evan, have you have your coffee? Did you even read my post? We don't own the UN, but how much rent does it pay us for the PRIME location? About the $5B owed Canada, read the second sentence.

Here's a campaign I thought was interesting. It's a 10 year old trying to organise a boycott of McDonalds sometime in December to show Canada support on this issue.

We Want Our Money Back!

IkeaMan @ Sun Nov 13, 2005 4:06 pm

with the substantial amount of money owing to us, Canada will never see any of those funds!

captn604 @ Sun Nov 13, 2005 11:23 pm

The US has stolen billions from us in illegal tariffs and duties. Maybe its time for us to turn out some lights or build our asian markets.. untill the housing prices in the states goes up more than a thousand dollars a house .... we are screwed .. we will not see our money back.

Thematic-Device @ Mon Nov 14, 2005 5:08 pm

Hey I have an idea, or Canada could sue in the US courts, just like every single US company does when they get unfairly taxed. And guess what, not only do the US companies win, they get their money back. Or perhaps the Canadian govt. could lobby the part of the US govt. that actually has a say in the issue of tarriffs, the house of representatives.

Furthermore to harp on softwood lumber is ridiculous. NAFTA has been a tremendous boon to canada, far more so then it has been to the states, the market has grown more then 1000%, by contrast the states have increased their market, maybe 30%. And 95% of all trade across the border has done so unhindered, to complain and whine about the final 5% which would have been far worse if it weren't for NAFTA, which wouldn't even have a chance of being removed without NAFTA is foolish. Particularly when the Canadian government has completely ignored the structure of the US government when they try to remove the tarriffs

Some thoughts for this thread.

1. The UN did not rule against the US in the softwood lumber dispute. The UN doesn't do that.

2. Instead, the UN runs UNICEF, provides jobs for the children of corrupt officals in the 3rd world, and funnels billions of dollars to homocidal dictators who torture athletes when they don't qualify for the Olympics.

3. The UN is in New York. New York is a fun place.

4. The best pizza in the world - and I mean the world since I've had pizza in Italy - is Vern's Pizza in Saskatoon.
