me i would get rid of that maple leaf flag but i respect it bcuz thats the way yall are

I would take a maple leaf flag anyday over what we have. Maple leafs are cool. Stars and Stripes are a sign of opression on mankind.

All I gotta say is that you come into this country coming from a govt like "that" then she or they should have known they would be heckeled. Same as if I go down there, works both ways.

Dude, you disappoint me. Coming from the UofS you are exposed to hundreds of international students every day. The person in question is not from the "govt", she is just a girl going to school.

Do you heckle all people from other countries? I didn't experience this during my 6yrs at the UofS and am awestruck by your comments.

Actually, I personally like the Maple Leaf. As for Stars and Stripes as signs of oppression, I am not too sure about that...

Err no im not exposed to "hundreds" of international students every day. My campus has nothing whatsover to do with my opinion and or statements. Did I say she is from the "govt" no, I said the govt of her particular country. You dissapoint me with your unwanted and unwarrented criticism.

Mukluk @ Tue Apr 26, 2005 9:04 pm

You go to the University of Saskatchewan, so yes, you are exposed to hundreds of international students every day. Its part of what makes the UofS the great multicultural place that it is.

You said "you come into this country coming from a govt like "that"". Again, she does not come from a govt. Judging an individual by the way their president behaves is not something that educated people do.

It's unwarranted, not unwarrented.

I don't feel she was heckled anyways, and think she should have a bit thicker skin. I get worse than that on a daily basis. Most times, it means that people give a shit about you enough to give you a ribbing now and then. If they really hated you, they wouldn't speak with you at all.

I guess it depends on what you mean by "heckled". Sounded to me like you were saying that harassment or animosity was warranted because of the country she came from.

That'd be wrong dude, and disappointing.

Do I physically talk to any of these supposed hundreds of people? No I dont so shut up. Again read my post, you seem to have trouble doing that, you seem to think im attacking his person here, im not, jesus. I am not judging the supposed individual. You also seem to be singling me out out of ALLLL these other informed individuals with opinions. You are also starting to get on my nerves. Maybe its people like you that deserve heckling.

talking about the flag was a example of how different canadians and americans are. I hope people do not mistake us for being pretty much the same because obviously there are alot of differences between us. I also dont understand how people can make fun of america there is not alot we have done that we are ashamed of and about the whole ignorant thing well i will accept that because america is obviously number 1 to me and i care alot more about our interests than anyone elses, if that is how yall are judging us.

If anyone is like the Americans in terms of their flag, maybe you should look at Liberia.........

Uboat @ Thu Apr 28, 2005 6:58 am

There is a reason that the Liberian flag looks similar to the US flag. Liberia was settled by freed American slaves. The capital city is Monrovia, named after the US President at the time James Monroe.

So instead of saying that Canada is America Jr. and that we're America's bitch, why don't you call Liberia your bitch and America JR.???

They were just fun jokes, if you can't take little jabs as she said, then how the fuck are you going to make it in the real word...

I play varsity basketball and there is some rivalries between us and massey, so when we go to there school they talk shit, when they come here we talk shit ( btw we beat them in playoffs but then got killed by neelin lol) but there always just jokes and we take it, some result in a few scraps but thats it, after season we get along fine, so why can't she just take a few jokes eh

Canada this, Canada that...

What's up with the idea that Canada is the only nation in the world who dislikes the US?
This might be outta topic, but Canada is pretty laid back compared to MANY countries in Europe for instance. I'm currently living in Finland, and i know that all countries in Europe, including Finland, have many people who dislike the US. I'm talking way more than in Canada. I'm just annoyed when there's a huge deal about "OMG!! An American student was harrassed in Canada!1!". Situations for Americans are way worse in many many other countries.
