It still amazes me just how unaware Canadians are about Canadian Raising. WE DO SAY ABOOT TO AMERICAN EARS!!! OUR COUNTRY SUCKS AND WE WANT WHAT AMERICA HAS!!!

You know, with all this talk of "aboot" going on here, all I can conger up is a picture of some mens size 12 corked logging boots.....
As for the location of said boot(s), I'll leave that up to everyone's imagination, although I personally think it could be a direct replacement for somebodies head in a very well known online image.....

On ‘aboot’, I can hear a distinctive vowel sound from some Ontarians. It’s not quite as extreme as ‘oo’ but it’s there.

I dislike the Canadian "exceptionalism", i.e., the idea that Canada's social and political dysfunctions are automatically attributed to the US influence, rather than homegrown. In other words, "we're really better than them".
Imo, this is a useful tool for the Canadian establishment--"don't blame me, blame the other guy"--when in actuality the elites of both nations have most things in common.
