Why do Canadians think the US threatens their independence?

Canada solely relying on the U.S. economy for its own economic benefits has put its self in a bend over position..
Need to diversify..There is a big market growing in Asia..Someone needs to start making some connections..
Well, works both ways in fact. America needs energy, we got it. The Oilsands isn't the best or envirnmentaly sound right now and Obama's rhetoric concerning "clean" energy doesn't really matter much with the cost of oil now. There's also the arctic with untapped energy reserves which brings us to the crux of this dumb thread.
China is already Canada's second largest trading partner. Who is more trustworthy?

If we wanted, we could stop trading with the U.S. and take our buisness else where but what's the point when buisness is already good, and more importantly right next door. Same thing implies with the U.S.
Well, that is why the NAFTA was created. You can't just "take your business elsewhere" at a whim. I'd like us not to be so dependent on the U.S but we are like it or not.

Either way, they go to Canada first.
Not by much but they go to China first.

The Question is more Who has a more stable and prosperous future?...You can trust an angel all you want, but it wont pay the bills..

Go research history, or talk to any World War Historian and they'll tell you that. During WW2 Canada brought that toughness, bravery, and fighting power with them. They did the same thing in WW2 as they did in WW1. They faught battles that other armies, failed to capture. Where they failed, the Canadian Core succeeded. At whatever cost.
you should research history, you guys had Germany on the ropes you did not need the USA
check out the dieppe raid, and operation market garden. there is many more.
oi, Dieppe was a disaster, but not from lack of trying; our British bosses
had no idea how to run a war.
Market Garden did not involve Canadian troops; if i remember correctly,
the Brit boys held onto the bridge at Arnhem 3 times longer than was asked;
it was the screw ups of the 101st and 82nd that prevented the Brits from being
releived.. i beleive the Germans helped a bit too.
Funny how the 101st always jumps on about Normandy and Bastogne,
but never say a word about Eindhoven ??
You might want to go back and read a history book before posting again

Say China has the more stable and prosperous future. 1 billion people. Can you say no to that if they have a hissy fit?
Canada already bows down to China as it is. Future isn't looking bright. I don't need to wear shades.

Numbers speak for them selves cant do nothing about that, Canadians need to start doing some serious fucking...
The super power will always hold the bigger hand just have to accept that..
A billion plus people that are in an industrial revolution stage and starting to move up the economic ladder need to be viewed with dollar sign eyes..

Didn't understand a word you said other than "Industrial Revolution" and "moving up the economic ladder" which China has already done. Point?

That you don't have a point? Yeah, I surmised that.
Industrial Revolution is over, China is past that and is already the top third industrial power. Remember our discussion who to trust with power? Commies or the evil Americans who has the potential to downfall in the future? It was 3-4 posts up, can't miss it.

Hey, if American companies weren't funding the Nazi's, perhaps we really wouldn't have needed your force as they'd be much weaker...
