Canada Kicks Ass
"Clicksor" ads??

I'm noticing, every once in a while, random words which are highlighted, and provide links to advertisements.

Is this a new fundraising technique? I, for one, am not interested in going to another site in the middle of reading a sentence on this one.

Pleeeease people, donate to the site if you enjoy using it...

This 'poor student' can, who doesn't even pay for computer software, let alone donates to websites on a regular basis.

If Canadaka has to resort to this (and if he does, he does; he shouldn't have to pay out of his pocket too much), everyone should try and help out, even just a bit.

sounds more like an adware program on your pc than a fundraising program...

Happens to me too. Little mini-popups like the Google adds somtimes pop up when I'm reading through.

Hmmm... I'll do a scan now, but I also have "clicksor" ads on the right hand side of this site...

this might be embarassing

Yeah... I'm glad I'm not the only one...

i've got the ads on the side too, they are put there by canadaka, as well as the google posts that are added to some of the forums....but usually if your text, like just regular reading text, is highlighted or takes you someplace (not a hyperlink that someone says, "click here") then it's adware or spyware....try running trendmicro's free scan to test it. www.trendmicro.com or adaware or spybot are good too.

Hello people

I got an email from google yesterday saying they had de-activated my google ad account because of the text I had in the forums:

$1:
Hosting and running this site costs money, these google ads help pay for those costs. CKA gets a small amount each time someone clicks one of these text links. The links are generated based on the words on the page, so the ads sometimes can be useful and relevant. If you see an add that interests you click it.

Please do not click spam the links, this is abuse of the google adwords.

Nor warning or second chance... I emailed google explaing the situtation but i doubt i will hear back from them, they seem to be on a war path lately kicking people. I will be real mad if I don't get my google advertising money for all of August. What a scam if I don't and I will be out a lot of money!

So I had to madly search for another ad-network, looked at tons, they all look and say simular things. I decided to try this Clicksor. It has contextual text ads like google.

I don't know yet how well it will pay, if it will be the same as google.
But yes something else Clicksor has is the content link adds, finds keywords i the text of the page and makes them a link, whn you hover of the link a popup ad box appears. Many sites use this, I am going to try it out, its not in your face like a popup windows, you can ignore thme if you want.

But im definatly in a money crunch now, I would be out $400 by the end of the month if these ads don't make as much as google did. And if google doens't pay me for August. So if you ever considered it.. now is a good time to donate, lol

I will try and keep the ads sa non-intrusive as possible, thats why there is mainly only text ads. but its a fact of the internet and this site that the ads need to be there to pay for the sites hosting and bandwidth costs.
