Wikipedia kinda makes me mad sometimes, people there can be harsh.
a couple months ago I tried to make an entry for the accronym "CKA" but eventual was deleted.
One of the CKA members, BartSimpson I think maybe? A couple weeks ago started a new one for a notable website, Canadaka.net. I had no idea it was done, I found it on google the other day randomly.
see it here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadaka.net
I added a bit too it as well, after i randomly found it from google.
Just recently some hounds of wiki have marked it for deletion, and i don't know why.
But if you know wiki, you can post in defence of keeping the article.
As PeterFinn has done so well!
see here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia: ... nadaka.net
I have to thank BartSimpson for adding this, lets try and stop it from getting deleted!
Ok, what can I do? All i seem to be able to do is run around wiki looking up what the criteria are.
One thing that i did see is that the site needs is to be mentioned by some well know and reputable media source not associated with the creator of the website. Do you/we have that for Canadaka? It seems as though the site passes the Alexa test they have, and potentially the google test
Yes, but it needs references that they can source. IE was there a CKA article, forum thread or even picture that has been published outside of the site, is well known outside the site or can be attributed to this site exclusively?
The 2nd version of the CKA wiki article is much better than the 1st run but the same policy for deletion will still be valid until references can be posted to verify authenticity.
CKA has links from thousands of websites.
Has been featured on numerous radio stations arcross Canada.
And has been on CTV, maybe more, thats all i know of for TV Media.
But i don't want to post any of that myself, looks bad if I do.
How can you verify that wou've been on a radio station or TV?
I found a link to Canadaka.net on Olsen on your side page here:
http://www.vancouver.ctv.ca/olsen.jsp?i ... n_link.htm
(right near the bottom)
Can you link me to these tests?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Google_test
hmm, not sure if that link you posted is good enough, it is esentially an advertisement for products and has little to do with the main area of focus for the site.
You say the site has been featured on various radio stations and CTV, if you know the approximate time (year, month, week?) i bet it wouldn't be to hard for them to find out, they probably keep records of that sort of thing
Also, it would be cool to get a hold of such media and have it on the site, if that is even possible
July 1st 2005 CTV
I don't remember all the radio stations, I know the site has been on all the BC stations. cFox, Rock101, xFM
arg this is annoying, stupid wikipedia. I had given up on it. I didnt make this new one, I just found it and added a bit.
Rabble is on there:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rabble
only other canadian theme site i can find.
I looked for vive, but didn't come up, I didnt use spaces thats why.
Well there yah go, Canadaka.net is a larger site than vive and its on there. But looks lik its marked for deletion too?
and WTF someone is posing as me
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:TrevorMay
THAT IS NOT ME! my wiki account is Canadaka. wonderful
Hmm the deletion box is gone on the Canadaka.net article. What a bloody soap opera Wiki is.
WTF some fucking bastard is imposing as me on Wikipedia and going around marking a bunch of other Canadian websites for deletion... all "left" leaning sites.
I have emailed Wikipedia about this, and added my keep vote to all these articles.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia: ... ion/Rabble
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia: ... _le_Canada
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia: ... nadaka.net
please do the same, add a keep message and a reason
add this to the start of a new line for a keep vote (i think)
Will do Trev, but where do we actually do the "keep" thing? Looking around the page linked to and don't see anything.
I was wondering how much CKA was listed on other sites, and
it turns out "CKA" gets over a million Google hits. However
it also seems there's a lot of CKA's :
Canadian Kinesiology Alliance
Canadian Killifish Association
Consumer Knowledge Analysis
Cave Klapwijk & Associates
Ceska komora architektu
Colorado Karate Association
Canterbury Kennel Association
California Kindergarten Association
Centrum Kształcenia Akademickiego
Council for Kentish Archaeology
Cliff Keen Athletic
Christian Karate Association
Christ the King Academy
Cantillion King Advertising
Česká křesťanská akademie
Christopher Kidd & Associates
Carey Keller Anderson
CKA Artist Management
CKA Associates
CKA Horizons
CKA Signs & Graphics
CKA Travel
CKA-Designs
That's a nice welcome message from wiki
If you take out all the big words....I think it says "fuck you"
Yes of course the acronym "CKA" is used by other things.
But were #1 on Google!
Also the article ist listed as Canadaka.net not as the acronym CKA.
