There seems to be a few people here that are trying to cause trouble for the site and Trevor. All this BS about the T-shirts and such is just a pile of crap. Trevor has set up and built this site, with the help of others, at mainly his own expence and time. He doesn't charge people to come in and enjoy the site, all he askes is if people will help out by donating a little cash from time to time, not much to become a gold member, or buy a CKA T-shirt or product. This is an outstanding site and I and the other staff members wouldn't be volunteering our time here if it wasn't worth it. Please help Trevor out and donate some cash or buy a CKA product. He's got literaly thousands of his own money tied up in these products. I've just purchased my fourth and fifth T-shirt today and also have donated $20 cash. I challenge people to match my donation today. So if you enjoy this site please help out!!!!

Thanx to those who help out!!!!!

Streaker @ Tue Nov 15, 2005 9:29 pm

I can't make any guarantees right now, QBC, but I'll try to make a donation sometime before Christmas. Maybe buy some of those stickers and a nice Canadian-made CKA t-shirt, too! [flag]

Alright, and this is why I finally registered onto this site after awhile of passively reading it.

When you discredit something as 'just a pile of crap', you're basically trying to rewrite someone's previous argument. If you were honest with yourself, you'd admit that Trevor was basically trying to capitalize on this Pro-Canadian Website by selling Pro-Canadian shirts.

There's nothing wrong with that at all, but there is something wrong when Trevor is claiming that the shirts are %100 Canadian Made, when in reality they were made in sweatshops in some third world nation. It's called false advertising, and companies in the past have been sued because of this.

So you're saying that some people are trying to cause trouble. The fact remains, that had Trevor of worded his advertisings better, he the accusations then probably never would of happened, and if they did, then they would legitimately be 'just a pile of crap'. I'm all for supporting this website, just don't try and change the facts that went into the problem in the first place. That's just wrong.

I think being a little prick about every detail is anal and is looking for a fight. I think if someone knowingly made those claims which were false fine, but if they were under the belief through the suppliers that they weren't, it's a different story. Since this isn't a retail site and the shirts and hats are a supplement to running the site, it shouldn't be an issue. Anyone wishing to make it one spends way too much time in their basement.

Well, I'm an American and a conservative and I've donated US$50 so far. My personal intent is to donate US$25 per quarter. I don't have much use for a t-shirt but would happily buy a coffee mug if such a thing were ever to come along.

If anyone regularly enjoys the site they really should pony up a few $ to help out.

Replace the word "capitalize" with "subsidize" and you'll have it right.

I've have a couple t-shirts, hoodies, stickers. When I get home I'll order a heap o' stickers to hide in geocaches. I might be a bit of a disturber, in my own way, but I have no gripe with the site, and certainly none with Trevor.

DerbyX @ Wed Nov 16, 2005 7:37 am

You can look at it this way. Trevor is providing for us a "service", one that we all freely use because it provides us with a "commodity" which is basically companionship, education, entertainment, etc. He should not be expected to foot the bill on his own. This isn't some useless, bigotted blog like one we all know so well. Its both a service & labour of love and not unreasonable that he may engage in soliciting (re begging J/K) donations or supplementing his expenses. My Uni does all the time in its "free" alumni services when it asks for donations and offers me "discount" insurance, etc. If it does not offend the major users of this site then it should not offend you. If it does then on yer bike. No-one is forcing you to surf here and its not as if your tax money is supporting it though so quit yer bitchin. We like it just fine and the bullshit economic origins are just so much smoke on the water as it were.

Don't let em get to you Trev! [flag]

Exactly my view too; Maybe look at more generic Canadian pride shirts? I'm not really keen to advertise websites on my clothing. Mugs would be an excellent idea, too.

Otherwise I'll continue to donate, likely again before Christmas. If this "starving student" can do it, anyone can.

Perkinelmer, your just being ignorant

American @ Wed Nov 16, 2005 8:18 am

I thought about the t-shirt, but thought it would look rather odd for me to be running around with one. It's really kind of a Canadian thing.
