I'll second, gladly.
One thing I've noticed about SwampoO's humour is that it's never directed in a nasty way at others. His jokes are quite often self-deprecating, and he has a quick wit.
I disagree. He attacked me quite virulently and without any reason or provocation early on when he joined.

You seem to bring out the best in people.

a grudge is the heaviest thing a man can carry. I believe I have appolagized for such "virulent" actions. Perhaps I was indulgeing in all the emotions this forum had to offer me, but now, due to your further complaining I shall live parsimoniously amongst the humourless herd, to make sure I offend no one else.
unfortunatly this is already impossible, for I have already mocked you again, in this post.
sorry. =\

Apologized to whom and when? I simply stated my perspective on the matter. I am not complaining about you now nor have I before other then the posts in which you attacked me. If you were truly sorry then you would have sadi something like "Your right. I attacked you without reason and for that I am sorry". That would have erased it in my eyes but instead you post a self-serving reply designed to "mock me" yet still appear to deserve some sort of zen honour. If you are sorry then you are sorry. If you are not then you are not. Which is it?
hey man, if thats a nomination for the Zen medal, then thats cool. But one at a time man I think the current nomination was for the Hilarious medal, but I think I can do both =)
ooooh and to answer your question *honk* *honk*

Not a nomination, just a counter-point to Lily's post. Funny you aren't. Honk-honk.

Ditto!
Now we're getting into that whole nasty thing of "What is funny?"
Most people on this board tend to like the Swampoo type of humour. Non-threatening, cutesy, fun...just like a timbit! It's the posting of one of those canned picture responses on here. It's the wearing of a shirt with a kid tested and mother approved slogan like "I can go from 0 to bitch in 60 seconds" or "Everyone is entitled to my opinion!. It's the bumper sticker that says "If you don't like my driving, get off the sidewalk!" It's that sucky Rick Mercer or Royal Canadian Air Farce or Red Green humour. It's "Let's all have a little giggle and still be the superest of friends, okay??"
It's weak. It's watery sauce. There is no edge, no bite, no lasting impression. Bill Watterson, author of Calvin and Hobbes, wrote in one of his strips that laughter is humanity's reaction to absurdity, like crying to pain. George Carlin has maintained that laughter comes when one element of an otherwise mundane story is completely out of whack, stretched beyond credibility or invokes an unexpected emotion. Something that exposes the truth of something by cutting completely to the core elements and doesn't apologize for other people's hang-ups or sensitivities.
Example?
Q. Would you like a million dollars?
Swampoo answer (I'm not meaning to single Swampoo out, just that brand of humour): Does Jack Layton wear an orange tie?
Dayseed answer: Did Rose Kennedy get her money's worth out of that black dress?
And thus the two branches diverge.
Can I get a medal?
I would love to have one of Pro-Quebecker (But not separatist) and one of...
FLAMER!

I don't think you've been reading the same posts made by Swampy that I have... he's one of the few members capable of catching me off guard with some of the stuff he posts... You, with your cookie cutter analogies and tiresome "Jesus [insert random cliche] Christ", are hardly as "edgy" as you make yourself out to be.
I second the nomination for SwampoO's hilarious medal... if examples are required for the Mods, I'll sift through some posts

Mind you, you didn't read his scathing & unprovoked attack on me either. His explanation for a series of attack posts against me: "when i first came on here noone was nice to me or gave me the time of day so I choose someone to attack as a response". That wasn't very nice don't you think?

I did read it... but obviously not knowing you and making baseless attacks for the hell of it shouldn't be taken so seriously.
I'm certainly not supporting his nomination for the "nice guy" medal

Y'know, examples of the humour would be an excellent idea for the hilarious nomination.
Moreover, the Jesus [Phrase] Christ things are like a signature, much what Bart writes on the blackboard and what is on the paper during the American Dad opening are signatures for those two shows. Jesus Balls To the Bandsaw Christ how could you not see that??
Besides, there's a succinct difference between edgy, as in cutting edge or as in pioneering, than being simply offensive. The two will often times blur as one delineates itself from the other, but it takes time. Then, it's not so "edgy" anymore. Trey Parker had a brilliant insight when he said that crisis and tragedy are ripe for joke-making 20 years into the future.
That being said, Swampoo (sorry dude, you've become a label for this discussion. I sincerely apologize) jokes are funny in the same way that a life with AIDS is livable.

No-one gives a rat's patootie what "Anonymous" thinks.
(whay are anonymous postings even allowed on this site?)
What's a patootie???? Is the poor old rat being denigrated by this comparison?
Regards
Can I get medals, please?
