I'm with Bart here. Our mods and Admin are second to none on the net. I traveled around on walkabout this is my home.

For our men and women you guys rock  [flag] [BB] [BB] [cheer] [cheer] PDT_Armataz_01_37

hmmmm... come to think of it, there are no women mods

I'm a mod but I mod the rugby thread lol

How's that for irony.

It's simple Bart. You bring a lot of common sense, and a fresh look to CKA; but in your own words. YOu don't dance around the bush, and a lot of ppl can't take those direct words. I will give a lot of lattitude to the members, as long as it does turn into a flaming war. I am not talking for the other mods, just my personnal views.

Thanks, much appreciated!

The kicker is the things I've been dinged for on the other forum are:

1. Posting a smiley in a post. They won't even explain why this is an offence when the forum uses smilies all over the place.

2. I got dinged for someone else's offence and when I pm'd the mod I was told that if I formally appealed the warning I'd be banned.

3. I got dinged for necroposting even though I was not the necroposter, I was just responding to one - apparently I'm supposed to read the dates on all previous posts in a thread before I respond to the subject.

4. I posted a comment in the "wrong" place.

And one more hideous offence like these and I'll be banned.

The forum in question has been the target of numerous hacks and DDoS attacks and, frankly, I can see why. The mods there are imperious and they really do rule with an iron fist.

It'd be different, I suppose, were I being dinged for being controversial, but I don't get into those topics on that forum - it's just a bloody game forum and it seems I'm getting dinged for their particular and opaque etiquette and not for any actual breach of conduct.

Here on CKA the warnings you guys hand out are usually just that: in thread warnings to calm down and not actual yellow or red cards except in unusual circumstances - and you folks don't blow a gasket when someone posts in the wrong forum area, you just move it to the right place.

I guess I'm sorry it took me having to experience the other forum's moderators...

... to truly appreciate you guys.

Bart, can you tell us what forum or what the forum is focused on (a game, video games, etc.)? I've been told that video game forums, for instance, can be some of the most vicious posting environments on the net, secondly only to fan-boys.

Cyber Nations.

Curiously, they ban the one flag that would be most appropriate to their mods:

And it would not surprise me if I were to get banned from that site for this thread on this site.

LOL

I've been on moderation-hold (or whatever ) on a Dutch forum about Canada, by immigrants and emigrants. It was over... First Nations ROTFL I didn't share the opinion of the mods, so my opinion was invalid ;-)

That sucks. Mods here are pretty good at objectively looking at posts, but it can be frustrating when others abuse their power by nuking those that don't share their opinions.

Nope...we can't see that. I usually vote no......

I voted in favour of tossing me as a mod last year too.

I belong to another site... but I don't post there anymore because all my posts are on "moderation cue" (sic). That means the admin has to read and approve of all my posts before they appear on the board... and he's no longer approving them. I've been effectively banned.

They didn't like my jokes because they felt they weren't "PG"... even though they have a couple of FU smilies... and they locked almost every thread I posted on.

The kicker?

They think I'm a rabid right-winger. 8O

You? lol.
Do tell me where that is because it sounds like they need some edjucation :-)

Our mods are damned good even if you consider that most of the other site mods are horrible.

Not that it makes much of a difference, but your opinion is not so highly regarded on this forum either. Therefore making it invalid here too.
