It's unfortunate you build for IE< since it doesn't even read html properly. Even if you don't use any other browser you should build for either Opera, or Netscape since they actually read HTML properly so if it works there it will work other places. Smarter way to do it. You are tyring to make a profitable site but are willing to deny at least 10% of the population and growing. Probably not a good business plan.
I just swiched to Opera as it is far, far better then IE. Actually any browser is. Being a bit of a web builder yourself I'm disappointed you didn't know that. But then I'm starting to think maybe you built this in frontpage
Ok i may be a MS fanboy, but Frontpage is the biggest POS there is. i use Coldfusion or notepad. I prefer coldfusion though, it color codes everthing, and i love the find and replace features, stuff like that.
I know all about the rules of web design and a site should be compatable with other browsers. But who says they read html right. if normal is measured by what ever the majority thinks is normal than IE reads html the way it should be. Either way i like how IE reads html, and i think IE is by far the best browser. nevermind how it became the best...
I have never liked Opera, i dont like adds, and i dont like the tabbed interface. I prefer to have my windows seperate. In windows XP it groups them anyhow. Why would i want to use another browser than IE? its fast most compatible, built into my OS, low resource, fast startup time. Sure maybe because MS knows there own OS and has access to the API's to make it fast, but thats a reason to use it.
But browsers like anything else are mostly a personal preference so to each his own.
No, IE actually does not read html properly, this is a well known fact, IE: Look at your site in any other browser. Actually look at most sites in any other browser (except for big ones). If you build a site for Netscape or Opera and it works you are guarenteed it will work perfectly in all browsers, as we know that is not the case if you build for IE. In 99% of the cases the site will be screwed up in other browsers. What about people who don't even use Windows? You are completely killing a whole potential market for you.
1) Opera 7 has no ads
2) Lower on resources, by almost 20 meg, even netscape is lower on resources
3) By far faster and alwayshas been, opera is the fastest browser there is
I agree that browsers are personal preference but by building for one (the worst one there is) you are eliminating a whole market, and business wise that is not a smart business plan.
Im not killing a whole potential market, the site workes in all the major browsers, MacOS and Linux too. Just the 2 buttons i added probably dont work right. I always make my sites as compatably as possibly following W3C guidlines.
No you are right it does work...

has anyone else noticed the site slowing down the last couple weeks? i might hafta file a complaint, maybe upgrade...
well it seems i found the bulk of the problem, I had added a CBC news block to the left side, and it takes way to long to hold, and it wait till it loads before displaying the rest of the site. So i removed it and right away noticed a big difference.
Sometimes it would freeze on me totally, and id have to reboot and try again.
wow the site is 100X faster today.
For those of you who use Canadaka.net webmail, i was informed it wasn't working the last couple days, but its working now.
It sure is Trev Thanks FAT
