Why Do Some People Not Have Rep Points?
I've noticed that some posters have reputation numbers, and that other users can give or take away those points. However, I've also noticed how some posters, like andyt and Thanos, do not have them.
Is there any particular reason for this? Did these and other posters with no reputation number ask to have them removed, or was that a mod decision?

You can disable them. . What I don't get is why some people I seem to be never able to rep and I could be wrong but does the amount of points per rep change? Is it always 5 or can it vary?

You can disable rep points in your user panel.
Some people turn them off because they know they are so loved, it would only be a sea of red negative points.
Others just don't a crap about rep points.
The number of points you give out depends on the number of posts a member has made
on CKA.
Most total posts = higher rep points given when you give someone rep.

The rep point system has somewhat morphed over the years since it's inception, below is as much info as I could pull up on the system. Going into your user profile you can disable the feature, which most members not showing rep points have done. The system may not be perfect but it's the only one we have right now, so enjoy playing with it......
Trevor's explanation of the system
$1:
Reputation power
The total point you give to other members is based on rep power you have. The default rep power is '0', user will gain 1 rep power after posting 100 posts. Rep power can increase by user post factor and user membership day factor.
There is also an option in your "User Control Panel" under "Board preferences" where you can choose to hide your reputation.
These are the settings I have for now:
- 25 points = 1 green block (the first green block will start to show after +1 point)
- 1 Rep Power for every 5,000 posts
- 1 Rep Power for every 2 years
- Max 5 Rep Power
- CKA Mods have a Rep Power of 5
There were a couple threads about the system, this one may give you some insight into it's running......

The "spread the reputation around" limit was reduced from 10 to 5 by Trev a little while ago I believe. Timeout between reps seems to be an hour.
I try to push the hour sometimes, but it seems to be quite strict.

+5 because what's a rep topic without rep?
LOL. Too soon for me to rep you back, so I'll send it to Jared for starting the topic.
Dang, too soon to rep him too. Someone make me laugh, so I can rep you!
