I would like to visit there soon and would like to hear about it from some of you folks.
What is fun to do in Winnipeg? Anything to share? Interesting History?
Thanks. 8)

If the mosquitos don't kill you in the summer, the cold certainly will in the winter.

On a more serious note, Winnipeg has been known to be Canada's rock and roll capital, spawning many famous Canadian bands.

Seeing a Blue Bombers game is always interesting...

Lots of lakes and rivers, so enjoy it in the summer...

The city is one of Canada's major cultural centres and is home to the world famous Royal Winnipeg Ballet.

It is a fairly old and historic city in Canada. In 1869-1870, Winnipeg was the site of the Red River Rebellion, where the local Metis people led by Louis Riel and newcomers from eastern Canada had a little rebellion. This rebellion led directly to the entry of Manitoba into Confederation as Canada's fifth province in 1870.

There are tonnes of old buildings to visit.

Also, there is the Esplanade Riel, a pedestrian only bridge with a restaurant on it.

Portage is easily Winnipeg's most famous street. Located downtown, there's tonnes of fun stuff to do in the area...

Lots fun to do and lots of history.

Perhaps you could narrow down what your interests are a bit. If you like museums and theatre, we have that. If you like strippers and pitchers of flat beer, we have that too.

If you are into history, I'd recommend the Museum of Natural History, Riel House, and, if you are here in the summer, one of the tours of the Exchange District. The Winnipeg Art Gallery sometimes has some art of historical significance, and other times has displays of modern stuff.

We have paddle-boat tours down the river, Upper Fort Garry, and all kinds of things.

I sometimes wonder if I'd rather go back to West Nile and Frostbite or stay in Conservative Paradise, :( ;)

"Winterpeg" says it all.

well thanks for the input so far everyone...

to narrow it down I like music, local art and history, architecture, BEER, theatre, films, people watching, and all the things mentioned so far I will remember for my trip!

I'll make sure to go in the spring or fall to avoid the cold and the mosquitoes!!

Esplanade Riel, Portage St. art museums and the paddle boat tours on the river sound like my kind of thing.

Flat beer is something that floats my boat also! Local cuisine is def something i'd be into!

Yeah  and the rest of Canada from Calgary to Timmins is just such a freakin tropical paradise. If you're going to live in Winnipeg, live south of the Assiniboine and west of the Red. If you can't Fort Richmond is nice.

Compared to Winterpeg, yes, the RoC does seem to be a Tropical Paradise!! :D
