Canadian here Hi all I'm a newbie to the site .... I'm so happy I found this site ... it's awesome ... Great Work ... any hoot as the thread says I'm stranded here in Sweden
Been here for 11 years ... the beer SUCKS ... Thank God for Demark's beer ... hail to the Danes
... looking forward to meeting you all... and getting to know ya.
Welcome to the site, I hope you enjoy it! wow another Canadian in sweden, is there many Canadians in sweden?
too many I assume, but thanks to our talk forum we're finding each other. Stockholm has a Club where they meet once a month at a pub. but I'm too far to attend. (ahh sad isn't it) Hey but the good news is ... I'm going through the paper work to have my 2 kids become Canadians KWEL
This brings up a very good question. Why would proud Canadians move to another country (Sweden for example)?
Me ... I married a [SWEDE] ... & I moved because my husbands work ... we are planning to retire back in Canada which is in another 15 years. That is why our children are going through the process of becoming Canadians [/i]
Welcome aboard!
Meh, I don't see what's wrong with proud canadians moving to other countries. Spread the pride, hehehe....
I another newbie to this site and I'm also a Newbie from Canada. I now dwell in S. Korea. Here, they love Canadians but take my word for it, if you can help it, stay in Canada.
Welome to the site!
Hey, and thanks for the email, I will look the site over, try to weed out any American spelling.
Im another canadian living in sweden.. married a swede and been here 5 years.. my swede loves canada and wants to move there.. we see.. but im a proud canadian here.. my kids all have sweatshirts, hats and jackets with canada on them.. i have the hat and my canadian/swedish pin on my jacket and my husband wears his micmac indian sweatshirt with a saying on that that just confuses these folks.. but thats really not hard to do on any given day..
and i really, REALLY hate when they say canadians, americians.. whats the difference?? really rots my ass!! so then my attitude comes into it and they dont' forget the next time they meet me that im CANADIAN!!
GREATEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD
we have the canadian flag haning outside (kinda forgot to put up a swedish one next to it too.. oops..) and my son has the huge canadian flag hanging on his ceiling.. we have many hanging around the house..
You have to have a Canadian flag, at least one inside or outside your house. Its the law you know!!
I only have big one right now
But i will get more soon, and no matter where I live they shall be displayed proudly.
crankody & the rest,
We do hang the Canadian & Swedish flags inside & outside too ... & have clothing etc with Canada on it
Yep I've gotten the "oh it's the same country ... same language "
This is how i work around it ... I'll say well "hey to me your just like the norweigens " This of course starts the dialoge "nope nope we are NOT like norweigens
" then why not? the "language & customs are sooooooooo much alike"
Then they get it
but on the other hand ... how many Canadians are miss-imformed about ummmmm a little country like Sweden? What's the first thing that pops in your head ... ABBA your right ... Swedish Chef (he's too cool) ... Blonde babes (not too many really) ... hockey yep they play the game here too ... Volvo ... Saab.
My point is that all Canadian expats must try to imform others about the country.
Yes I've seen the disapointment of peoples faces when they learn I'm Canadian & NOT American My dear husband who's PROUD to have a Canadian wife has stepped in many times and has set the record strait. She's Canadian ... she's not from USA ... nope she's not a citizen of that country ... no she didn't vote of BUSH .... she's CANADIAN ... ya get it.
