Changing history to make a more united Canada

The intent of this reform is pretty evident. In order for Quebecer to feel more Canadian they have to forget part of there history.
I don't think the Quebecois need to forget any part of their history in order to feel more Canadian. I am Metis, and the most important parts of my history come from conflict with Canada-- I see however, that this conflict along with a proceeding protestation from French Canada contributed to the creation of the multicultural Canada we live in today. Indeed, without the Quebecois, Metis may have never attained equal citezenship in Canada.
The Quebecois need always to remember that they are different from the English however, because they are. And no change in the school curriculum in Quebec should rid them of any part of their history for federalist purpose. Any such change, indeed, would fuel more seperatist sentiments in Quebec. I would certainly interpret it as oppression. What needs to be debated, is whether this curriculum change will go a ways to rid the Quebecois of any part of their culture.

I’m not sure I agree with its intentions. I don’t think, for example, the Conscription Crisis of 1917 should be glossed over as it is important event in Canadian history
I second this, the Conscription Crisis is important to both English and Quebecois, and even others.

Firstly, history always contains some form of bias
Perhaps it is not history itself wich is biased, but it's documentation.
Your being 'Metis' is completely irrelevant. You are first and foremost a Canadian citizen. Under the guidance of my Fascist Party of Canada, you will be taught your place amongst Canadian society. No more 'special privileges'. Under my fascist ideology, reservations will e a thing of the past. You will no longer be 'Metis' but Canadian. No more tax breaks for you under my rule. No more free trucks, housing, snowmobiles etc. You want it? You pay for it like every other Canadian citizen be they from India, Pakistan, China etc. I would seek to crush your 'heritage'. You would be free to learn the history of your people but you will not be free to LIVE as your people did. You will be fully-indoctrinated into Canadian society as a whole. No more divisive 'I am Metis so therefore I deserve better than any Canadians' bullshit. You will receive as all others reserve. You will respect the wishes of the average working Canadians or be FORCED into doing so.
And your being a fascist is also irrelevant. You don’t even know what a fascist is – you are an intellectual philistine trying his hand (poorly) at political discourse. You are a graduate of Wiki University with a Masters in Google and it shows in your pitiful dodging and shifting and amateurish inability to articulate even the most ideological basics of your espoused faith. In short, in my Canada, people like you are exposed for the fakes and charlatans that you are - you will serve as a reminder that researchin’ via web surfin’ only leads to an incomplete understanding of complex concepts and produces a piss poor ability to apply said concepts in different scenarios.
Fascism? Please. Come back when you’ve got a clue

school history is crap
it goes indians grade 6
french grade 7
1837 (convienietly skipping all the years in between)
US civl war, the fenians and confederation both in grade 8
then we have to wait to grade 10
when we only officially learn from world war one on
luckily we have a great history teacher who started the history stuff with german unification and the meiji restoration.
In Québec, you get an overview in Primary School. Then in Secondary 2 (Grade

, you learn about everything up until 1493. The greeks, romans, crusades, explorers... etc.
Then in Secondary 4 (Grade 10), you learn about ''modern'' history. From 1493 up to now. Colonisation, the development of north America, not just Québec. The wars leading to conquests, and the final batal on les plaines. Then the conditions under the different governers. We had a few good ones too, up until the american revolution and the loyalists arriving. Then thats when we go into all the different conflicts between the french and english. The splitting of Québec into upper and lower Canada. The reuniting of both. The Louis Riel crisis, confederation, conscription..
Anyways, just to say removing all the conflict in our history is, odd.

Your teacher started Canadian 20th Century history with German Unification? In Grade 10? Uh…are you sure that’s in the curriculum?

I was taught political aspects of German unification as well as Italian about a month ago (grade eleven). We learned about Canada last year.

? My 'special priveleges' are only there to protect my culture. I go through the licencing system myself when I hunt because I the lifestyle I live is primarily the White Canadian one. But we shouldn't be forced to, my dad once shot a duck where the Ramada Inn now lies in Edmonton. He still lives a very traditional life. What's wrong with that? And besides, like I said, in my ideal of Canada I am Metis and Canadian.

Thank you, I second. Come back when you have a clue.
