This is frequently overlooked in our treatment of US-Canadian relations.
Besides the enormous numbers of americans who mustered into the CF in both WWs prior to the American involvement and the Canadian Viet Nam Vets----more Canadians fought in the US Civil War, on both sides, than fought in the War of 1812.
I did not know that but considering our close relationship and the horrid meatgrinder that the US civil war was, it wouldn't be suprised.
It's funny that we are often mis-represented as peace-keepers but everytime we go to war, we punch above our weight, but when we're restrained by UN charters and ROE on peasekeeping missions, we can't do what we've proven we can.
I guess it goes to show that all the fight isn't just on the ice.
Why doesn't somebody just get on TV Shows and educate the world about this? Kind of tierd of living in everybody's shadows when it comes to war. Tierd of all the "Oh, I diddn't know Canada had a military?" comments.
Take WW2 Video games for example, name a video game that has Canada as a playable country? They had Canada once in SP for Call of Duty 3 I think, but that was only for console games and only once in single player.
Where is all the Modern Warfare games with Canada in it? What's funny is, with all the games I looked for, I haven't found one single one. I even tried looking at modifications for games. They don't even have one single Canadian Modification. Best they got is a skin change for BF2 for Single Player only.
American soldiers do something brave in warfare, and there hero's and get there own video games and are always talked about. Canadians do something extra brave in warfare and nobody even bats a eye at them except for Canadians and a few people from other countries.

Call of Duty 3
I mentioned Call of Duty 3, CoD3 was limited to console only and only on a couple systems. They also only showed Canada once and in SP.

COD2 has Canadians as well and if you play online there is at least one Juno Beach map that I've played on.

This has less to do with Canadian valour and more to do with marketing media to a population base with 10 times the numbers.

Are you talking about news media? I don't really think news has anything to do with video game making. I mean it is expected that a American News corp would only show American soldiers and reward them but I am talking about video games. There are a lot of Canadian video game designers, though probally more American ones. There are more American video gamers then Canadian, but there are still a lot of Canadian ones.
If Canadians can continously play as Americans in video games, can't Americans atleast play ONE single game that had a map or two as Canada and not America, Britain or Russia or other countries. I bet they could.
Take Call of Duty 2 for instance, You have two sides. Allied Side, and Axis Side. Allied side consists of America, Britain and Russia. Axis side consists of just Germany.
If they can allow Britain and Russia to be placed in there (IMO There is more Canadian Gamers then there is Britain or Russian gamers) and sell it to the majority of American Gamers and they can play them. Why can't Canada have the same thing? Granted that Britain and Russia played a MUCH bigger part in WW2 then Canada and lost a lot more soldiers but Canada made there battles just as interesting, maybe even more (Except for Russia and there retreat and die tactic in WW2).
Vimy Ridge would have made a very kick ass map for CoD2.
I always thought technically anyone born in Canada prior to 1949 was considered a British subject....
The reason I say this is because I remembered a Canadian trivia question .... "How many Canadians served in WWII?"...The correct answer was none as technically they were all British subjects....

Bravo! its not a conspiracy or anything like that I think it speaks for the historical correctness of the game no one should be offened. In many games i played there is no Americans pre 1941. Why? because we were not in the conflict yet.
At the end of the day its a game.
I dont get mad that you can kill 100 germans for everytime you die. After all my Grandfather (mothers dad) was in the Whermacht. My Fathers dad was State side Frist placed in a interment camp in Montana (I dont sit here looking for reperations or stupid apologies. he moved here in 1922 from Italy and was already a American citizen at the outbreak of war, and was still placed there, The USA did what it had to do for the moment) Then when he was cleared he went to work for Colt arms in Bridgeport CT. while his family was in Italy. Sorry about being way off topic just a little family history. On how my family fought for both sides during WW2.

Fair enough, however what about after WW2? Cold War, Korean War, Current day Afghanistan. Were we in the previous Iraq War? When the other Bush was in charge of the U.S.?
Canada was a major contributor to UN Forces in the Korean War.
What else were we involved in, hmm. I think that's it besides for Peace keeping missions. However even if during WW2, Canada was British. We still took part in the war, and would be fun to play Canada for a change. It could play off seeing how our flag wasn't exactly the same as the British Flag. Even though it had it in it and the soldiers wern't called British Soldiers, but Canadian Soldiers.

Well maybe you hit on something here you should look into making a game centered on Canadian fighting troops in WW2 for example. The goverment might even throw you a grant to research and develop it.
I don't think anyone fighting in the Korean War would've have been born after 1949, not unless we enlisted 2 and 3 year olds in Canada...
Again, people born prior to 1949 were considered British subjects. Korean War was about 1950-1953...
