It's your lucky day.... I usually don't come up with anything trying to find stuff on the internet, but:

The Log Driver's Waltz is best known as an animation film done by the National Film Board and performed by the McGarrigle Sisters. NFB filmmaker John Weldon made the three-minute animated film The Log Driver's Waltz in 1979; it features Kate and Anna McGarrigle's memorable rendition of the title song. The animated short can be found on late night CBC broadcasts. The song tells us about a young woman who marries a young man because driving logs has made him a nimble dancer. The tune is very catchy and carries lots of repetition.

thats it.

man i love that!!! off to try to dl it.

this reminds me of my childhood for some reason
it used to come on like everyday right before the smurfs

All these shorts - the logger one, as well as the ones I mentioned - were all done by the National Film Board. I found a few of the ones I remember on their site, and you can see images and a few clips of them to refresh your memory (I remember them being on CBC all the time as a kid in the 80s):

Thank you! I wondered if anyone else remembered this obscure animation about log drivers. I remember seeing it a few times as a child shortly before the CBC played the anthem for the night and cut off the air. I never knew what it was called. How did we ever figure these things out before the internet?

Much appreciated (even 6 and a half years after your response to someone else's query),

There was another one I only saw once that showed how the gods gave fire to man and how man took fire and it's energy concept and ultimately came up with various sources of energy.
I don't remember much of it other than it was done in the same style of animation as "The Cat Came Back". At the end, man ultimately blows up the world and as the gods start over again, you hear one of them say, "This time, we give fire to the woman".

I'm pretty sure this was in CKA's CanuckTube section, but can't find it right now although I'm sure it's somewhere in CKA's vaults. Anyhow here's the vignette from another source. Nice necropost by the way.....

*edit*....It is once again in CKA's CanuckTube along with a number of other Canadian vignettes produced by the National Film Board of Canada.
