My son left for Kandahar today, part of the 2nd Battalion of the Royal 22nd Regiment out of Valcartier.
A lot of years were shed.
Let's wish the group of over 100 young men and woman a safe return at the end of a successful deployment, and extend this to all our military who are serving and will serve there.

When he entered the forces, we was about 230 pounds.
After basic training, 180 pounds. He's 10-15 pounds over that right now.

I love the new Duds they have now.
Seems the basic "green" was a bit too "visible" over there.
Not a lot of cactus to hide behind, a lot of rocks though.

Best of luck to your kid :!:

Thanks a lot.

Would my son qualify as a "Hump Day Hottie"?
He looks "exactly" like his dad, except for the 28 year age difference.

Best of luck to him... you all look so proud!

Thanks Lily.

Very proud, and a wee bit terrified.

We went to the base where the whole group (including friends and family) assembled before leaving.
I remember seeing my dad off when he left 3 months at a time (Canadian Navy).
I don't remember seeing as many sad faces as what I saw today.

Safe journey and a safe return.

Meh most of the fighting is done in the villages, there is quite a bit of green around. When it comes down to it though it doesnt matter a hell of a lot, after a week everything is turns a dusty beige brown.
