$1:
Between 2002 and 2011, when the combat mission ended, 158 members of the Canadian Forces were killed serving in the Afghan war.

With Canada's military commitment in Afghanistan drawing to an end on March 12, 2014, we take a look at the men and women who died in the line of duty.

Click on the thumbnails on the right to find out more about each individual. You can also leave a tribute message.

I could not find a thread leading to this here yesterday.

My thoughts are thus.

The people that gave their all, and some their lives for this, showed the world what Canada is really made of.

At the end of the day they did us proud.

I thank you and words are not enough.
You will always be part of my life experience , even though I never served.

My condolences too. I worked with Canadian soldiers over there and was so impressed by them, and so proud. And that goes for you too 2CDO.

Thanks everyone. Knew Frank ever since he graduated basic training, he pretty much followed behind me on postings. Quiet fellow, never interested in advancing to leadership positions, just wanted to do his job.

The worst part of his death was knowing it was going to be his last deployment and was retiring from the military on his return to Canada. He missed it by less than 3 weeks. :(

This next few weeks are tough ones for me, lots of memories from good men, many who are friends, that paid the ultimate price.
