It is official,

NATO will switch to 6.9mm by 2010. The 6.9mm Ammo has already being approved for establishment accross NATO as standard ammo. Since it is more effective against Light Armor at range up to 300m, it as been chosen to replace the 5.56mm.

That could re-open discussion about the P90 and it being better than the C-7.

P90 Assault Rifle AHAHAHAHA. Any specialist around.

Still prefer the c6 with my 7.62 ammo belts.

But, can you provide a link to that ?

harzer_knaller @ Mon Jan 09, 2006 1:09 am

P90? Is this the "rifle" that SG1 from Stargate uses since season 6 (or 7)???

Isn't that a short-range gun, because of the scattering? (at least in counter-strike)

Better than a C7 (which is a modified M16A?, right?)

Can you explain that to me?

Thematic-Device @ Mon Jan 09, 2006 5:49 pm

The p90 is a CQB weapon chambered witha proprietary 5.7x28mm round, basically a scalled down 5.56... I fail to see how use of 6.9 rifle ammunition would mean that a 5.7x28mm pistol round is superior to 5.56mm NATO rounds.

Harzer: it is the SMG from stargate

I'm guessing AFV crews are pretty happy about that.

Could you post a link or article to the forum so we can all see. I do think that it would be extremely interesting to see what Canada would do to cope with a lager bullet espesualy when we should have never gone away from the 7.62x51mm NATO standard. The C1 was a very good rifle and with a few upgrades it would have been even better.

and build our own version of the AK47.

Richard @ Tue Jan 10, 2006 8:22 pm

We couldn't do that fig. They would take the best points of the weapon away and before long we would be issued a rifle that was imposible to field strip and a shitty action.

Scape @ Tue Jan 10, 2006 8:36 pm

The breach of the AK is too short and makes it unstable. Stick with the right arm of the free world.

ShepherdsDog @ Tue Jan 10, 2006 8:44 pm

7 mm is a good round for hunting. nice flat trajectory.

The 7.62x39(russian) has probably killed more people than any other round due to it's availability worldwide. However that doesn't make it a good choice, give me the good old .308 any day.

Just saying..

figfarmer @ Tue Jan 10, 2006 9:56 pm

and the only way to make sure they'd work was also the way to make them kick like heck. If we're doing a walk down the historical path I'll take a Lee Enfield Mk 5 .303

ShepherdsDog @ Tue Jan 10, 2006 9:59 pm

Ya buncha pussies. I always set it(FN C1) at 0 and left it there. The kick isn't that much.
