Our boy has been back for 2 months ! First month was a drinking party .... second month was some kind of a rally for one chick to the other, from one party to the other ... third month has started has a mix of month one and two !!
Future , carrer , responsabilities seem to be the last priorities at this time !! The Army told us that after three months , we should contact them coz there could be a problem !!
Man !! We don't see him !! leaves at 2 PM comes back two days later at 4 AM then all over again !! I had him playing golf a couple of times every week but other than that it's NADA !!
Has Afghanistan transformed our 24-old son into a veggie ??
Help please !!!
Have you contacted the military?
We contacted the Army who told us they would assign a "friend " to our boy ; some kind of an undercover guy who would contact our boy and see what's going on !! hmmmmm !!
what we noticed is that our boy seems to be completely " emotionally disconnected " from what's going on. He was really shaken up when Cpl Steve Martin died just before Christmas 2010 ; pipes , Amazing Grace etc etc really moved him ....
A couple of months after , when another of his Valcartier buddy died , his reaction was just so different ; he didn't care anymore ; has been like that since !!
A a reservist , he was eager to join the 22 nd Batallion ( regular ) after Afghanistan but now he has changed his mind !! he basically has no goal in life except beat his dad at golf ... which is not a very high objective considering my game !!!
Puzzled parents !!
He's 24.... Don't pretty much all 24 year olds do this?
I'm assuming he is reserve? Chances are he is just blowing through all his tour money, he'll probably be back to normal when the cash is gone. If you really are worried about him, you should talk to his friends.
From Someone who has been there a few times, if you are worried about him you talk to him. You all ready have im Guessing. Don't pester/nag him, but keep talking to him. There is no time limit to when this will stop, yes most of us go through the drinking phase of our lifes too, not just vets. I have had all of what you have mention happen to myself and seen it in others. There is no time limit to when it will stop. If you are truly worried bug the millitary. If you are near a base, you should be able to find a MFRC, Millatary Family Resorce cetner. They can also direct you to help for your son, plus help you understand what is going on.
Hope this help.
