Hi,

I am in the RAF and will be leaving (after 24 years) in 2010. I am moving to St John's, NL once I have retired from the RAF (my wife is from there) and I want to make sure that whatever I chose for my resettlememt training will be recognised in Canada.

Does anybody know of any websites that deals with Canadian forces resttlement training?

I still haven't decided what I want to do when I get out but I'm looking maybe at one of the following:

Police
Fire Service
Prison Service
IT

My current trade is RAF Movements Controller (CAF equivalent - Traffic Technician) but my job at the moment is managing a training IT network (and all associated equipment PC's/laptops/peripherals etc) within the Defence Movements School.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Glenn

Why don't you PM Mario? He's not in that exact discipline but he's the only one I know here that may have that answer for you and he's on the east coast, which is close to where you're heading.

I know the Edmonton police are looking, and if you have military service you are accepted for training right away (if you intended to go that far west, that is). Ther RCMP might be looking, too, as well as Corrections Canada. As for IT, you can find it most places, but I don't know. NL is not a good place for the job market. You will find just as many newfies in the rest of Canada as you will in Newfoundland. Most seem to join the CF or move to Alberta to work up north. It is said Fort McMurray is the largest city in Newfoundland. It just happens to be in Alberta. Still, I understand the "rock" is a nice little place, populated by some of the nicest folks in Canada. Most Newfies I have met will give you the shirt right off their back if you need it, sometimes litteraly. Best of luck finding work there, if you do, you are most likely to be very happy there.
