Tell me Ulidian, you seem like a level headed fellow but what exactly is your purpose in posting on these forums? What are you trying to promote? We already have another one like this, I think is name is GreatBriton or something like that. Im just curious, im not flaming or whatnot.

I don't really have anything to promote other than I like Canada, my parents are Canadian, and we're both in the Commonwealth??? Also I like talking rubbish and stuff etc etc.

only joking ). I don't know how to answer you as I'm not sure what you mean or what you're getting at, I'll wait for clarification before being more definitive!
PS If you mean someone already posted about the Scottish Regiments, then I didn't see it as I'm to lazy to read all the posts
!!!. Or if you feel I should only post about Canada?!
PPS If you mean do I have some kind of alterior motive for joining the forum other than to talk/post or whatever, then all I can say is I dont!
Anyway I'm a little confused as to what you mean, so I can't really be more precise sorry!

I remember seeing a picture of a painting done by a WWII war artist. It depicted a Canadian highland regiment marching through a devastated town. What struck the artist was the ethnic diversity of the ranks.
My father and all my uncles, Ojibwa Indians, served in highland regiments, the Stormont Dundas and Glengarry Highlanders; the Essex Scottish; the Queens Own Cameron Highlanders. So I am partial to the Scottish tradition. But you know, my brother is currently a permanent force member and I don't know the present status of "Scottish" regiments today.
By the way how can I get a cap badge, WWII era, of the Stomont, Dundas and Glengarrys Regiment?

Chigeeng... i know at the cornwall armoury we have some 1950 SDG highlander badges and balmorals perhaps they still have some of ww2.

English Regiments are being merged with other English regiments, too. It's not just Scottish Regiments. It's English, Welsh and Irish, too. One of England's new "Super Regiments" has just taken part in a raid in Iraq which captured several terrorists. It's typical of you Scots to see yourself, wrongly, as victims.
If these new Super Regiments allow the British Army - the best in the world - to perfom even better then why complain about it?

Main regimental changes
The major changes
The defence secretary has announced sweeping changes to the structure of the British Army.
The 40 infantry battalions are to be reduced to 36.
The table below features some of the main changes.
Note: Year of formation refers to current regimental battalions.
It shows the current regiments, the year that they were formed, were they are based and what regiments they will be merged with.
(Note to Scots: English and Welsh regiments are also affected)

we have the same probleme they want us sdg highlanders to join with the brockville rifles this is dum , save are regiment too ! we are proud to be a scotish canadian regiment ! I understand you this is not right we are proud of our regiment.
