LILLE, France — Prime Minister Stephen Harper confirmed Sunday that six Canadian soldiers were killed in Afghanistan.
Harper said it was a difficult day in Afghanistan, adding others were injured in the incident.
Military officials have yet to release any information but NATO has said six of its soldiers were killed in a roadside bomb in southern Afghanistan.
The prime minister was in northern France to take part in ceremonies marking the 90th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge, a historic First World War battle.
There are 2,500 Canadian troops serving in Afghanistan.
