Fraser said small Canadian flags on the side of vehicles and the tiny ones on soldiers' shoulders can remain.
Gee, how very kind and thoughtful of them to allow us at least that previlege to show our own patriotism.
You'd think two flags side by side would be the appropriate gesture.

No I disagree because it is one thing to sport your identity but to fly your flag in another country is disrespectful at all times even for the most friendly reasons .

Canada's flag shuld be flow over Candian istatutions for identifiacation, the afgan flag should be flown at equal hight for bases there Afgan persoaneele are trained, and alone over International bases.

Embassy's are considered that particular country's territory aren't they?

You tried this before with people flying American flags in Canada and Vice versa
I think its bull, its a Canadian institute, so fly both flags.

Out of courtesy, not in law.
It seems the same should apply to naval ships and military bases.
There's nothing wrong with this. A large part of the Afghan operation involves "winning hearts and minds."
The Canadian force commander, whose actually over there and putting his life and those of his men on the line seems to think this will help accomplish that goal.
Who the fuck is anyone in Canada to second guess his decision?

Fair enough.
What I said was "You'd think two flags side by side would be the appropriate gesture." But I'm not
demanding anything.

So what you're saying, is that Canada is disrespecting the united states by flying its flag at DC? And that the US is disrespecting Canada by flying its flag in Ottawa?
And that the only countries that the US truly respects are the 24 countries which have no embassy, consulate, or other form of US presence.
Tman1 Tman1:

They are, but I'd imagine many of the bases in afghanistan are considered canadian territory for the duration of time that they're there too, all US military bases around the world are considered US territory to my knowledge regardless of whether they are in Germany, Yokosuka, or South Korea.
Personally I think that it doesn't matter, I would have gone for the two flags myself but I can see the point in solely flying the Afghani flag.
But the suggestion that flying your flag in another country is disrespectfully is rather ludicrous
