Seen both bands live and I'll take Aerosmith over the Stones every single time. 8)

That being said, I personally don't like most of the Stones music past 1977 or so. Prior to that the put out some classic songs.

I hate to say this, but most of Aerosmiths best music was back in the day when they were snorting up the better half of Peru! 8O

The Stones are a generation older than Aerosmith, so if you saw them past their best by date, then that's understandable. I havn't seen either band live. I know Stones concerts were a big deal, but to me they seem more like a studio band anyway - their live albums never sounded all that good. But when they were at their peak '68 - '72, there's not much to compare.

For good live performances, J Geils is probably right up there. Wasn't lucky enough to see them either, but if you listne to Full House - wow. They're recognized as at that time being one of the best live acts around.

Best live act I've seen was Willie Dixon and his All stars. One of the old blues guys who still seemed to have have it going on. Tightest band I've ever seen. (As compared to John Lee Hooker, who just sat there and sang boogie with the hook, then motioned his white boys to do all the playing.)

Seen them in 1981 and I agree that they never sounded that good live.

J Giels 1980, one of the opening bands for the Who. The other warm up band was Heart!

Best stage show (not music) was KISS in 77. best music was Matt Murphy in 84!

I saw Matt Murphy playing for James Cotton. Pretty damn good, but not a candle on Dixon et al. (comparing band to band). The All stars just had the ability to all go off in their own directions, and then bam, they were all together again. None of that robotic thumping when most white boys try to play the blues.

This one's a gooder. While I like Aerosmith, the Stones and Led Zep, I do stay away form the overplayed radio crap from all 3. Truthfully though, Tyler, Mic and the whole bunch (including the Young Bros>) should retire, none of them are a whif of what they were and they can't justify their high ticket prices to me.

Rammstein owns every single one of the bands of old boring little bitches mentioned in this thread.

Teutons + guitars + heavy metal = Apocalyptical awesomeness.

Ad hominem and a strawman all-in-one...that's some killer logic.

I saw Aerosmith on the Just Push Play tour. What was that, 2002? That was a very kick ass show. Have not seen them since.

Had tickets for a show in KY 2006 I think? But Tyler ripped his vocal coards the show before.

So, it was eight years ago, but it's the best rock concert I've ever seen and I used to make it a point to take in a lot of concerts. I liked their stuff OK before that show, but I left that concert a fan.

They've been living clean and healthy for a long time now, probably why they can still giver a little better than most their age.

I saw Aerosmith's Done With Mirrors Tour. Kept getting told by older people that I was going to be disappointed, they suck live etc etc. Yeah, I heard the earlier live shit and it was shit. The tour I saw however was one of the best for sound I've ever heard. The sound was crisp, everybody was on key AND in time and they just came out and kicked ass with their music. Then Pump came out and Aerosmith turned all pussy.
The Stones on the other hand, as much as I like them, had me reaching for the Geritol and wake up pills.

I saw Aerosmith on the Done With Mirrors tour too. That was at Kingswood Music Centre at Canada's Wonderland. What I remember most about that show was the opening act, which was a band called Orion The Hunter, featuring former Boston vocalist, the late Brad Delp.

Yea... I was eight years old during that tour...

Its say that Aerosmith's best music was produced in the late 80s and early 90.....long after the all got out of drug rehab
