In that case, try the other two on my list.
"Shilelagh" out of Victoria, BC. Amazing fusion of traditional Irish music and rock.
Has anyone heard/seen of Sebadoh? Saw them in concert in Brighton.
The Shores of Newfoundland
Gaelic Storm
Flogging Molly
One of the best sources for your obscure music would likely be the ZeD website... It's a great showcase of all different kinds of Canadian art that you won't find many other places.
You can hear a few examples of Patrick Watson's stuff here.
His website, too... though it's almost as difficult to get your head around as his music.
But yeah, check out the ZeD website... I imagine it's still on TV as well, but I haven't watched in in a few years.
here's my list of favorite Canadian indie bands:
Broken Social Scene

Stars
Tegan & Sara
The New Pornographers

indie music takes a bit to get into, some patience, b/c alot of it sounds very whiney or twee. Keep looking there will be some key songs that will ease you into the genre (if you call it that, its actually alternative rock). When you finally do come to appreciate indie rock you'll be satisfied, emotions will be fondled.
UP NEXT MY OTHER RECCOMENDATIONS
Anyone knows about Kyuss from USA ?
I heard of them for the first time at a tool concert and since, I bought most of their albums. It's some kind of hard rock with a very flat sounds, sounds like hell.
Billy Bragg - Political Folk
Toots and the Maytals - Rocksteady
Jurassic 5 - Underground Rap
Of Montreal (from Georgia US, not Quebec)
Animal Collective
Lightning Bolt
Jerry Jeff Walker is a country musician in the "outlaw" style. Similar in style and sound to Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings, John Prine, etc. Even a little Jimmy Buffet influence. He has been around for years and wrote the song "Mr. Bojangles". I don't even like Country music as a rule but make some exceptions with JJW and some others like the ones listed above. I saw him at the El Mocomdo in T.O. in the 80's and never thought it would be such a party, been a fan ever since.
London Homesick Blues...
