The thing is the girl can sing and has talent, but me thinks it's gone to her head and the whole tough chic attitude is a little funny coming from a girl that's 4 foot nuthin and 90 lbs. It's the image that turned me off her music.

When she first came out, I didn't like her because of her image. Her whole punker thing. And then one day I heard one of her songs and I really liked it. So I hate to admit it but I do like her music.

Beauty!

ANd Kace? Why do you want to start a thread about hating someone, eh? That's not very nice...Come on! I love her music! you continue to like pop or whatever is you like, but you don't need to flame other artists to do it....come on now..

Have you heard Avril Lavigne perform live?
-Cringe-
If she's not a great singer live, she's not a great singer IMO.
It's a matter of personal taste ultimately.
I liked her first single "Complicated" back when, then came "Sk8er Boi" - even now thinking about the banal pointless lyrics and typing the cutesy IM type spelling makes me want to retch.
I'm slowly turning into an old fart , I know
My 11 year old daughter loves her though, so I tolerate Avril when she's being played.

See my reply to Avril's new single. There will always be posers out there. But if people enjoy listening to her, who cares?

I don't like or dislike Avril Lavigne...she's just kind of a non-entity as far as I'm concerned. Now Shania Twain...there's somebody I dislike immensely

I'm old enough to remember the outlaw movement in country music, Babe. Waylon and Willie and the boys. Before Hank Jr. became a parody of himself and Kristoferson quit hanging out with Lennon.

There's still a lot of that around...the good stuff. I think they call it alt.country now...it used to be the outlaw movement, then it was cowpunk. It doesn't get played on the radio though. Instead we get a Tammy Whynot throwback with a boob-job and a glittery outfit. If Shania wants to be a stripper, then she should. If she wants to sing...well I have something I'd be more than happy to put in her mouth.

Shania drives me nuts, however I blame Mutt Lange in large part -> Shania's producer and old old man.
Back in the day, Mutt was a great producer.
In fact he produced arguably one of the best rock albums in the past 30 years, AC/DC's 'Back in Black'. previously he produced 'Highway to Hell'
He worked wonders for Def Leppard on 'Pyromania' and produced their comeback album 'Hysteria'.
Then Mutt ran out of ideas.
Brian Adams and Mutt had huge commercial success in '91with 'Waking Up the Neighbours', but it was the last Brian Adams album I'll ever buy.
The backing vocals were very similar if not identical to what Mutt did on Hysteria.
"Everything I do" made a lot of money but it was a shitty song from a shitty movie and "18 'till I die"? Shame on you Brian and Mutt.
Shame, shame, shame.
Now Mutt's reworking the same tired poppy crap all over Shania's music.
On a positive note:
I still like her much better than Celine Dion and don't even get me started on Nickelback....
