top secret drum corps

My kind of drum corps... although the concert part ends right before this clip, Bieble's Ave Maria, absolutely amazing!
POWAAHHHH!
Unfortunately the drum feature (solo) was in the first half of this show too, although there's a lot of extremely good drumming (they beat all the other corps in percussion so they had to be doing something nice) in this show, it's just sort of masked. 9 snares, 4 tenors, 5 bass, and a bunch of people in the pit as apposed to the 66 horns...

it's because in most P&D bands the tenor drummers play the same beats as the bass drum so they get drowned out easily...so htey basically end up being something to look at rather than to hear....
i play trumpet too, i played it all through jr high and high school, but then i didn't play much after that...i still have one and i still have all the technical knowledge but i don't have the chops anymore but i can get that back if i play again.... after HS i branched out to guitar, bass and mandolin.
if i could be in a pipe band i would be a snare drummer or a piper for sure!

Yeah, you definitely have to find a band that actually uses them for more than show. It's hard, but not impossible... The way I think of Pipe Band tenor drummers are that they're the people that couldn't make the snare line lol

If anyone ever gets a chance to go see BLAST! I highly suggest you do, very, very entertaining. I got to see them a few years back and loved it. You can really see the Drum Corps influence when you watch it, especially in the music, the visuals, and the marching.
Oh, and a little information about BLAST!
It was formed by members of a disbanded DCI div 1 corps called Star of Indiana. Really over the top shows, extremely innovative staff, I didn't like much of their stuff (seen via video as they disbanded after the summer of 1993).

If you're interested in THE BEST! then you should check out this video, amazing snare drummer, good friend of my fathers, I had the privilege to call this man "uncle."
