We are from Saskatchewan and are huge fans of Chantel Kreviazuk and Avril Lavigne. Recently both of these artists announced Canadian tours that skipped over Saskatchewan. Venues are available here and they have scheduled days off as they travel over Saskatchewan, why can't they stop here too?
This is not the first, or last, time that this has happened. Over the years we have missed many big Canadian artists like Matthew Good, Our Lady Peace and many others.
We are a part of Canada too and we are fans of the Canadian artists and would like the opportunity to see them, with out the travel to another province. We are often forgotten about!!!
Really! Avril won't be playing in Sask? Man you guys are LUCKY!!!
Really, you're not an Avril fan I can see, but let me know who you are a fan of and I am sure that they aren't coming here either. It's as if we don't exist!!
I'm from Sask myself...and I know just what you mean. I used to travel to Winnipeg, Calgary or Edmonton quite often, just to take in a concert. The problem is...the cities in Sask. just can't compete with the larger cities for overall attendance. And unfortunately, that's what it's all about, right ? $$$$$$
As far as Avril.....I'm with TheDarkCanuck on this one, but I have seen Chantal Kreviazuk three times and she is by far one of the best I've seen. The first time I saw her, she was with Amanda Marshall and she totally surprised me with her clarity and power. She didn't need a microphone! I can't see why she wouldn't play some of the Sask. venues unless it's just scheduling. Every time I've seen her it's just her and her piano, nobody else. The last time I saw her, she played to a crowd no bigger than 2,000 people.
Now although I wouldn't go see Avril, I hope she is very successful because she's a Canadian KA kind of girl!!
Poor, poor, Sask. They dont even have any titty bars there...
What! no titty bars? ok, now I feel sorry for all the guys out there in Sask.
That puts quite a bit of preasure on the girlfriends there, doesn't it?
You are a bad, bad man, Regina.
Saskatchewan is capable of supporting some fairly large acts as long as they play in either Regina or S'toon, but not both. Personally I'd suggest S'toon even though I grew up in Regina. It can draw from PA and Battleford as well as Regina.
It has as much to do with a lack of recording company reps in the province as anything else...most sales for Saskatchewan are now handled out of Winnipeg of Calgary. No reps, nobody to push the promoters, no concerts.
You might want to try bootlegging everything, Smiles. If they can't be bothered to show up in one of the best provinces in Canada, why should they get your hard-earned dollars? Let them know you're doing it too.
Great News!!!
Chantal has now booked a concert at the Prairieland Exhibition on Wednesday August 6th!!!
