Jim Morison was a drunk and a loser. Not somone i idolize.

Hmm, so you hate someone because they are a drunk and a loser, well, aren't you a caring person....

I thought he was really creative and so was the rest of the band, but if you want to look at it from what jim morrisons personal life was, and if you judge if you like music on how the person who creates it's personal life was, then so be it. I like music for being music, and not because the person who made it was a drunk and a loser.

Do you know how many artist throughout history have been considered drunks and losers? It's the art that matters, and not the person who created it. You should judge something for the artistic value it holds, but who am I to tell you how you should think. I just view it that art, and the individual, are two seperate things.

Yes i do that.

Jim Morision was not the brain behind everything. Hes band memebers wrote just as many good songs, yet he is the only well known members. Why? becasue it was always stoned or drunk, or violent. and he liked being the centre of atention. you like the band, thats fine. My friends do to.

I don't know, Jim Morrisons voice did kind of mold the band. I give credit to his band cause they were excellent players, and I myself am a guitar play, so I look at the instrumental side of things usually. I'm not going to label a band as overrated though just because the singer was crazy. They deserved the fame if you ask me, cause their music ruled. Just my opinion. neither of us is wrong or right. I never said jim morrison was the brain behind everything, but when you are in a band you have to put on a show, and he did that well and had the charisma to get people to watch him.

I'm just wondering, what are some bands and types of music you like?

Wait, I just reread that, and are you saying that you judge a band on how their personal life is? That just doesn't seem what music should be about...

I can't respect the music if i don't respect the man

Why not? And you never told me what kind of music or groups you listen to....

Even the Beatles did drugs, and they have done soo much for music. Elvis was addicted to pain pills, and even alot of composers where drunks or not very respectable. When Jim Morrison was on stage, he was choosing to represent himself as he saw fit the music and you could tell he was feeling the music. I don't see what there isn't to respect about someone who has such a passion like that. I admit, the later albums were not as good, but when the doors first hit the scene you could tell he was feeling the music and had a passion for writing. I respect anyone who has such a passion and goes with their passion....

What's funny about this, is you didn't even know him personally, yet you don't respect him. I respect the music, and could care less about his personal life. Music isn't about the individual, it's about the sounds and letting the music play with your feelings. I actually feel sorry for you, because from what you say, you must not be able to sit there and just enjoy the music without wondering about the person who wrote it and what their personal life is. You never get to enjoy the music if you worry about the person who created it. Oh well, to each man his own. You probably do enjoy music, but just have something against the doors because you don't like the singer, even though you never knew him personally. Jim Morrison was about rebellion and trying to get a rise out of people, and I just don't get how people can't understand that, but I shouldn't talk because everyone can do what they want, and if you want to judge everyone like that, then that's your business....

For all I know you are just trying to get a rise out of me because I like the Doors(which is what I suspect, because it probably makes you feel above me, because you seem like that kind of person).....
