Point is the CBC got it wrong and are retracting the story as we speak .
Too bad your Alberta trashing thread is kaputz.

You mean Stelmach didn't make the original announcement that he would not be contributing? CBC just made that up, or misunderstood him when he said he would donate? I think Stelmach heard from some Albertans who also didn't think he was showing much class and changed his mind right quick. That doesn't make CBC wrong.

From wiki: "Until the 2009-2010 fiscal year, Ontario was the only province to have never received equalization payments;" "a wealthy citizen in New Brunswick, a so-called "have not" province, pays more into equalization than a poorer citizen in Alberta, a so-called "have" province."

who cares....... really  :?:

Find somewhere that he did make that announcement..now that you made the thread it's up to you and the CBC to prove otherwise.

BTW I'm not backing Stelmach I just hate BS anti-Alberta stories thrown out there
just to give the ROC something to crow about.

I mean, who cares about who gives what. As long as they get help.

You're just like the American network news wanting to pat the USA on the back, saying; "we are donating the most," "we are running the show."

Please give it a break already, seriously.

The idea of giving aid or a donation is not public, but from the heart.

Hypocrites make a big show of giving aid...

Maybe the story was wrong... but I think had it been correct is was a reasonable and acceptable response from Alberta.

poquas @ Fri Jan 15, 2010 4:19 pm

The point is that on Thursday Stelmach made a statement that he probably got his knuckles rapped for (and well deserved). Today he's "correcting the situation.

It's not anti-Alberta. It's just another shallow politician acting like a politician.

That's not what they said. They said they wouldn't be contributing to an outside agency.

Being the misanthrope you demonstrate at every opportunity, nothing short of a notarised signed confession from Stelmach would suffice. The CBC article makes a good enough source for me.

$1:
On Thursday, when asked how Alberta planned to help in Haiti, Stelmach told reporters that Alberta contributes to humanitarian aid in other ways, through grants and charitable tax deductions.

NOW he's talking about direct support.

I'm sure if Stelmach said that yesterday the CBC would have printed a story about immediately . They claim he said it yet nobody has anything to prove it.

They printed a story just before noon today saying Alberta was not contributing anything , an hour later they flip flopped and claimed he said yesterday that they were not going to contribute anything.

maybe Krista Erickson was the one making those claims :P

This next song is for andyt...

$1:
I hate the skydome and the CN tower too
I hate Nathan Phillips Square and the Ontario Zoo
The rents too high, the airs unclean
The beaches are dirty, and the people are mean
And the women are big, and the men are dumb
And the children are loopy cause they live in a slum
The water is polluted and the mayors a dork
They dress real bad and they think they're New York
In Toronto, Ontario

(spoken)
You know, I think I hate all of Ontario
Oh ya me too

I hate Thunderbay and Ottawa
Kitchener, Windsor, and Oshawa
London sucks, and the Great Lakes sucks
And Sarnia sucks, and Turkey Point sucks
I took a trip to Ontario, to see Brian in Sarnia
He beat me up and he stole my pants and he put me on a tree
I went to see the Maple Leafs, and got hit in the head with a puck
I don't know even how they did it, i mean i was playing the organ at the time

Ontario, sucks
Yup, actually you know nowI really think about it, i think i pretty much hate every gosh darn province and territory in our country
Well except Albeta
Ya, ya I love Alberta
It's very nice, lots of cows and trees and rocks and dirt

but,
I hate Newfoundland cause they talk so weird
And Prince Edward Island is, too small
Nova Scotia's dumb cause its a name of a bank
New Brunswick doesn't have a good mall
Quebec is revolting and it makes me mad
Ontario sucks, Ontario sucks

Manitoba's population density is 1.9 people per square kilometer, isnt that dumb?
Saskatchewan is boring and the people are old
And as for the territories they are too cold
And the only really good thing about the province of British Columbia is that it's right next to us!
Cause Alberta, doesnt suck
but Calgary does...
