big business leaders given unprecedented power
“This will make the three governments directly answerable to business leaders, giving them unprecedented power,” if true this scares me way more than Al Qaeda or anybody who lives in a cave and plays polo with a goats head . Even with its current struggles I love Canada the way it is not the way big businesswould like to see it.What would that mean in future ellections , we'ed place our X beside Power Corp or Manulife Financial ? Harper could stop this , if he doesn't the blood will be on his hands. Tell me how could any Canadian say this will lead to good things and our lives will be better for it ? How can our vote not become worthless? What would compel big business to uphold our charter of rights and freedoms ahead of their bottomline ? First this should make us want to throw up , then get mad as hell and riot in the streets till the soverienty our counrty is secure . The biggest threat to Canada is from those leading us. ( note I'm not left wing , right wing or chicken wing , I'm an independent thinking Canadain ,I'm not anybody's koolaid drinker) Whatever agreement the PM has signed with these people is only fit to use for wiping yourself with when your done on the toilet!!!!!!!!

No, I think the biggest threat to Canada (and the world for that matter) would be if the Sun went kaput.

Well, that looks like a very neutral website...
Here, I was expecting a duet with Celin Dion and Lisa Monelli.

That would be the greatest threat to humanity, not just Canada.

Yes, a duet of Celine Dion and Liza Manelli is pretty lethal.

If the influence of large corporations on our governments concerns you stormrider then you should research further and read more about this topic. You haven't received balanced replies here. The article you posted doesn't even start to discuss the influence big business has over your governments at all levels.

Your absolutely right Ripcat the issue wasn't even addressed .Being new here I took the responses to represent the best anyone had to offer. But the questions still stand , if the article is tripe prove it so or don't post .

Eather the private sector having greater govermental control over nation is or is not detrimetal . What do people on this form really think aside from the unrelated posts in this thread ?

Please correct me if I'm wrong is this not the kind of thing discussed on CKA ?

Having said can you at least refute their cliams ?

Well storm it seems to me...and this is just a wild idea here... but it seems to me that the countrys that have huge investment by large global businesses have a much higher standard of living than say those business hot spots of Sudan, Somalia etc etc.

I love these anti-business types  I just want to hang around long enough to visit them at the head office some huge multi-national company in 30 years. Cause like the hippies of the 60's and 70's they too will "sell out" to the man.

I think it's chicken littlism, Rider. The Competetiveness Council wouldn't have any regulatory or legistlative power -- it's simply an advisory council, as I understand it.
It would give big business the ability to network with each other, howver -- that's simply a consequence of putting this many business leaders together in one place, at one time.
