One thing I noticed was that the posts that have been moved from Vive all seem to have a glitch with the quote function. :?

Nope. I guess it's something to do with when I post from Vive -> Recent Topics, vs from CKA -> "Posts Since Last Visit"

Odd, that.

Edit:

Please don't ban me for dual accounts! I've emailed Trev to merge them!

Hello from Quebec city :

Proud to say we are doing our best to get rid of useless material .( Bloc Québécois ) I’m a resident of Louis-Hebert (QC) riding …. Ste-Foy , a Quebec city neighbourhood

We kicked out all Liberals after the Sponsorship scandal . Then we got rid of many Bloc Québécois useless brainless-unilingual-fatsos and then last Federal election we elected Tories . Total of 10 most of them in the Quebec city ridings.

So , just remember , Canadians, that you have friends in Quebec city, CANADA …. We are proud of our French heritage but are Canadians and you should remember that !!

Good night, Jobec

It is serious and a good article.. I always held some respect for M.Duceppe.. but the fact of the matter is the tide is changing in Quebec and both the bloc and the PQ have to recognize the new demograhic.. Quebec is like the rest of Canada multicultural and like it or not its not going to change.. Most Quebecers of different ethinic background will vote for the federalist parties..tory, liberal or NDP.. and the excerpt from the article....To be sure, Bloc members hedge their involvement in federal politics by saying they are the only ones who can defend “Quebec’s interests.” “We are there to make sure the federation doesn’t work against us, and I think we do an excellent job,” says Bloc MP Vivian Barbot. (Barbot herself sits on 16 of 26 parliamentary committees, making her one of the busiest MPs on the Hill.
sums it up... I dont believe there will ever be a separation of Quebec from the best country in the world..

JoBec... knowing Quebec City, in 15 years we'll have kicked the Cons' ass out of the region and we'll be voting for someone else. We're awaiting a saviour that will NEVER arrive and we will NEVER be satisfied with any party for an extended time period. That's just how we are.

Anyway between you and I, I'm not especially hopeful when it comes to QC thinking intelligently. We seem to take pleasure in swimming in our own failure. Just think of how even the successes of the 400th fall under a barrage of grossly exaggerated criticism. And then I'll let my political orientation talk and am going to say : ADQ? No, just, no.

JOBec.. I am a Quebecer too and a proud Canadian.. I moved to Ontario for a job in research..I will be moving back to Montreal soon enough. I am tired of the PQ and the separatist crap. its holding us hostage and holding us back.. Quebec is a great place to live and work but it could be better.. we have come along way since Lesveque and his hard on for Pierre.. Quebecers want and deserve better than we are getting.. its time to change and time to move forward.. and if electing torys is the answer then so be it.. I like some of the Blocs ideas (other than separatism) but dont feel they are now serving the best interests of quebecers today..

I'm caught in a personal struggle here in the Sag. The Bloc dominates here and I can't stand it, I really want them to go down. A strategic vote against them would probably mean a vote for the Conservatives... but I think I'd like them even less. But at least a Conservative MP is approachable, whereas I wouldn't be caught dead talking to that fathead Robert Bouchard.

It is quite possible that come election time, even though I want the Liberals to win, I will vote Conservative. We'll see.

Terrible idea, and it brings me to some reasons why the Bloc doesn't bother me very much:

The Bloc siphons off votes which would otherwise largely go to the Conservatives, as you already suggested, but these votes don't just come from hardcore separatists, they also come from Quebec nationalists - a segment of the electorate that is bad news for Canada. Mulroney relied on support from these voters to propel him to two successive majority governments which were consistently held for ransom by these nationalists, with consequences we're still living with to this day.

All this is to say that the Bloc keeps Quebec nationalists from having any excessive influence in Ottawa - an entirely desirable thing, in my view.
