In another thread, I came across this exchange. While I rather like Bodah, everyone knows that Zipperfish simply delights me, especially when he is riled by conservatives!

Here is how it went:

Bodah Bodah:
Global warming is just more horse shit, lets focus on what we can do in our own country instead. Canada is only responsible for 2% of global emmissions.

If we did everything the "experts" want us to do, get rid of our cars, bike to work, raise the price of gas, pee in the basement, not breath as much...
it would only go down 1 %

Every decade theres a new scare, acid rain, lead fillings, global cooling, etc ... it goes on and on. Now its global warming. Since half the scientific community is split on this, that's enough for me to call it bull shit. Once all scientists are on board in agreement, then you'll get my attention. In the meantime stop crying wolf it's tiresome, save it for when there's actually something to be concerned about.

This bone head idea of giving billions to other countries who don't have the technology when they are mass producing products to flood our markets making themselves rich, is asinine, lets tax the shit out of them instead forcing them to do something. Since when are we responsible for the planets delinquents.

Maybe Global warming is a naturally occurence? Ever think of that ? I believe there's data to prove that throughout time the earth's tempature fluctuates. You know being close to the bright hot orb in our galaxy called the sun and what not.
Zipperfish Zipperfish:
Here Bodah, gives of us a nice overview of the evolution of the neo-con mindset on the issue:
(1) there is no such thing as global warming (it's "just mroe horse shit.").
(2) OK, there's global warming but it's just natural.
(3) OK so it's not natural, but what's the point of doing anything.

You might ask which one of the above the neo-con represents. After all, it's contradictory to hold all three viewpoints.

But that's exactly what they hold--all three.

How, you ask? Because it's not a real argument. It's a smokescreen argument, filled with fallback positions. Why do they need fallback positions? Because they know they're wrong, but their ideology won't allow them to admit it. So they use their patented "It's all a bunch of crap, and even if it isn't who gives a rat's ass anyway."

Which brings me to the topic of why conservatives cannot handle reasoning situations.

Just in case you think Bodah was the one swallow that does not make a summer, here is another swallow for your collection:

Ridenrain in embarrassed despair today, quoted as follows from the news:

Ridenrain Ridenrain:
(Stephen Harper,) who now promises to fight climate change once ridiculed the Kyoto accord as a money-sucking socialist scheme and said he would battle to defeat it.

Stephen Harper derided the global treaty and questioned the science of climate change in a 2002 fundraising letter sent to members of his now-defunct Canadian Alliance party.

Harper himself!

Coming from the resident drama queen, pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. You don't want dialog you want to insult the Cons, a party that I'm not a member of by the way. I also think "Global Warming" is junk science. The DFO only hires Scientist who will tow the party line mean while the fishing industry in my Province was decimated by the corrupt Liberals and junk science. The fishermen warned them that over fishing would kill the industry and the government denied, denied. Well the fishermen were correct not the government scientist.

Scrappy, you may not be a member of the con party, or you may be lying.

But you are a conservative because of your mental structure, whatever your party affiliations may be.

Wow bending for Iggy, it's almost as if your working with some kind of mental retardation.

To understand the beauty of Zipperfish, look at this outburst:

Harper, Bodah, Scrappy and definitely that mexican dumbo Ruez, all have the same thinking system, which displays what zipperfish noticed:

Conservatives cannot see contradictions in their own positions. Sometimes in different discussions, sometimes in the same thread, sometimes in the same post!

Time and time again, Zipperfish, Avro, Lily, Miss T and even yours faithfully point out contradictions, holding of incompatible views and reversal of positions, and conservatives are puzzled at what exactly we are talking about.

According to them, they are doing a great job of thinking!

Why Iggy, because I don't think supporting Hoes for a lifetime is exceptable? We can't drink or bathe with the water in NS largests hospital because the Con government spent all it's budget on refurbishing the GG residence. The Con Provincal Leader campaigned on Family Values and he got kicked out by his wife one week after election. Our roads are a mess, you need a helmet and a flack jacket to go to the city. Cons again. It takes 300 days to get a breast exam, Cons aren't to concerned about this either. An immigrant had to go back to the Balkins to get cancer surgery because he waited 9 months, yes nine months to get a cancerous tumour removed and he was set back a further 14 weeks because he wasn't important enough in NS. None of us are beit, under Liberal rule whom they like to steal from the taxopayer and under Con rule you die slowly because Health Care was a campaign promise they have no intention of keeping. So I get to watch good hard working people die because our system is beyond sick. Hell the Red Tape pushers say it's an "Exceptable" time line, to what Cuba? Third world Health Care in Nova Scotia, but if you can give birth to as many kids as your body (Liberal policy) can shove out you will get kicked to the front line. Sniff after all the Hoe is a "Single Mother" who chose to go forth and mulitiply. The dying didn't get a choice on this type of "Third world medicine" the Liberals and Cons made a choice to ignore those in need. Instead they gave into greed.

Scrappy, ol' girl. I respect the fact that you have redeeming qualities but this diatribe deserves at least this one question, if I may. Who exactly overfished the fishing grounds of any of Canada's maritime regions if it was not the fishermen and regardless of their party politics? TIA

Our Little Retard "Always4losers" has now come to the conclusion that if you can't beat them, insult them....I know I sure as hell don't want him to join us! He's our little "Special" Poster.

Want to point a finger at someone? Do so at hyper-environmentalist fear-mongerers that have in the past few decades desensitized people to any discussion of the environment.

To me, the worst enemy our environment's future ever had was/is hippy activists, preaching pseudo-science and instilling the stigma environmentalism suffers today.

For a conservative who cannot see contradictions, there is no truth and falsehood, and no science. They are as puzzled with evolution as with global warming.

They do not fake a belief in Creation Science, to oppose evolution, they are genuinely and sincerely equally puzzled by both!

Harper probably does not fake a belief in the anti-global-warming pseudoscience, he is genuinely and sincerely puzzled about which choice is the correct one!

Consider this exasperated dismissal by Bodah:
$1:
Since half the scientific community is split on this, that's enough for me to call it bull shit. Once all scientists are on board in agreement, then you'll get my attention. In the meantime stop crying wolf it's tiresome, save it for when there's actually something to be concerned about.

Those persons here who follow the Creation Science controversy, particularly Avro, will see the similarity.

a. Bodah, and Harper are unable to decide either way.
b. They exaggerate the strength of scientific opinion against climate change, Bodah making it 50% in Bodah's case, and in the case of Harper well he makes it nearly 100% !

This is a simple minded man's way of saying, I cannot decide! Leave me alone!

After which, of course, the conservative deficiency of status quo kicks in. If I can't decide, I will just continue to do what I was doing. Produce, Pollute and Profit.

Good point, Blue_Nose, but my point is that there is no way of convincing a conservative. It is a mental deficiency, from Harper downwards.

Bodah is a sincere and honest poster, he is also very articulate and thoughtful. He does not insult or denigrate anyone. Some conservative posters here, Bodah, Redneck, Ridenrain and a few others are really nice guys and similar to my drinking buddies.

When Bodah writes what Zipperfish replied to, he was not being sly or tricky or manipulative, it was from his heart and he meant it.

The problem for him is genuine.

So did you grow up with a da that hated long hairs? What's your problem with "hippies" and especially those with an interest in nature and preserving what is good.
