Looks like Dion is just too busy to pay respect to the men who gave thier lives 90 years ago at Vimy.

This upcoming week is the 90th Anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge and Dion can't put poltics aside and stand with Harper at Vimy for this very important ceremony.

Partisan politics aside, it's embarassing that a man that wants to represent this Country (whether he's Conservative, Liberal or NDP), can't find the time to pay respect to the people that made this Country so great.

Shame on Dion.

I agree. This is something important enough that he should push whatever else he has to do for a few days.

Dion and Layton are claiming they weren't told, and already have obligations they can't cancel.

...All the same, they had to have known this was coming up. This is just another opportunity for them to whine about something.

"claiming they weren't told"

do they move that date every year ?

It's like forgetting your wifes birthday then making up BS to get out of it.

Just as well Dion won't make it. It would truly be embarassing to hear him whine about how "unfair" the battle was for the Germans. 8O

Zing!

Shame on Jacko and Diony. There is no excuse for this sort of disrespect. Instead of admitting their mistake, they blame Harper. :?

Is 90 years some important date? i don't seem to recall there being much fuss on this day in past years and PM's going over there... Does the PM go every year?

I remember on the D-Day 60th anniversary Mp's and the PM going over.

Dijon and Taliban Jack do not to project the image of war-mongers...........

Remember this mentality had our soldiers practicing forestry.....

Peace-keeping???????????

I don't think anyone looks good from this, Harper clearly should have invited the opposition leaders without having to be prodded and with due time, and at the same time, even short notice the opposition leaders should make the time to go.

The French PM isn't attending either.

Yeah, who came up with 90 years being such a big deal. I could understand if it was the 100 year memorial, but 90 years seems somewhat fabricated. Don't we dutifully assemble every November 11?

Confused.

I just spit some of my coffee out on the keyoard.

You owe me pal.

Because every 10 year is a big deal.

ShepherdsDog @ Wed Apr 04, 2007 5:29 pm

In 10 years there won't be any vets from the First War around anymore, so I'd say it's a fairly 'big' deal.
