Maybe before you make comments like "little set back" you should be aware of the whole story

Maybe you should get the time line straight

When I posted there were NO injuries reported just some mild smoke inhalation, and a small fire that was put out. It wasn’t until the next day that they reported the airlift off the sub and only later that night that they reported that the sailor had passed away.
So NO. I don’t feel ashamed and NO.I wouldn’t have said anything that would have made the family feel bad, and NO. don’t need you to tell me how to behave.

Godz46 Godz46:
They were used ships! I can't believe this. Why is it that evreytime a politician tries to increase funding for the military so they they could have the best gear there is for them to be efficient they are shouted down? We need an army people, we must have national defense. Sponsership programs and gun registration programs will do no good if we ever face the scenario of an attack, terrorism, kidnappings aborad or forign sabotage of our natural ressources!

They have so much rust on them there is a diving restriction to the depth... At least thats what I read in the Citizen.

Partly right what I read was that most of the valve were cracked and or rusted and that they would all have to be refitted, but the navy knew that going in.
The hulls integrity was sound as were all the other components of the superstructure.
Except one ship was not straight but I never read that story anywhere else and never saw it again.

Why not make things right and retract your earlier statements. Don't you think that would be the right thing to do considering this is no longer a "little set back"? Be a man for crying out loud.

Have a great Thanksgiving :)

Leave him be, he had no idea of the seriousness of the incident when he posted, He has madew amemneds since then, soilet it go, he doesnt have to change anything.... Lets change the subject if anything.. (RH)

One of the things about this issue that really bothers me is the fact that the authorities lied to us just for the Hell of it. After hearing for days that the two crewmwn who were in hospital were just there because they were seriously upset and exhausted, but they had eaten hearty meals and would be alright I'm now being told that they are in serious condition, one in intensive care. Don't tell me the hospital food is that bad. Our government lied to us because they didn't want things to seem too bad. Well, they are; and they are made worse by the fact that now we know we can't trust them to tell us the truth.

The problem with smoke inhilition is that you would come out fine... but, you are still in danger for 48 Hours. If you ever find yourself in that situation, check yourself in an hospital asap... The problem is that your lungs can fill up with water... don't know why, but they can.

that the government and press would be aware of that.

Apparently you are completely unaware of what the NDP platform was for the military, Godz. I am not, however, unaware of what Li'l Stevie Harper's plans were. Your next post better be one explaining exactly how Harper would have prevented this death had he been elected in June.

While you're at it, explain how you would justify all the deaths that Harper's policy of being cannon fodder for Bush would have caused.

when folk join the millitary , they know thier life is on the line . in peace or war it is the same , military personal die.
It is a shame that this country buys outdated junk for thier personal. It is a shame that the goverment who sent these sailors out there , will not care.
I have a little insite to this topic , since i spent five years in the canadaian army , 1st RCR and CAR 3CDO.

a sugestion for you all reading this, how about everyone here get a enelvope and mail these widos say five dollars in cash . That way they may get due finaical compensation ,( if there is such a thing), as it would be more than THIS GOVERMENT WILL PAY THEM . send it in cash so the goverment tax man gets none.
but i do wonder how many of you think of the military , when it is not in the news?
they do not do much in this country , but when the boys and gals put on the blue cap , they get shot , motored, dissasppear in from of your eyes in a flash and bang !.
How many of you been peace keeping, as it is not very peacefull.
as i stated at the start, military folk put thier life on the line knowingly, the ones who die are at times the lucky ones, think of the ones who do not die, but are all screwed up( in thier heads , body and spirt ) for the rest of thier days.
so the next time you all see a member of our armed services, shake thier hand, let them know you respect and back them. cadet, reserve or reg services it makes little differance, as for them too , sadly it could be thier last day on this world
think of sending these poor widos some cash money , maybe someone here knows a address that may be use to get intouch with the widos

You never answered my question. That's a recurring theme with you, isn't it?

As for what to do with the military, the majority of Canadians want to use it for peacekeeping and protecting Canada's sovereignty in the north. They do not want it used in Iraq or any of George Bush's dirty little acts of aggression. The equipment and training required for that is quite different than what Harper was proposing. We don't need tanks, we do need more Coyotes, for instance.
