Ethics commissioner probes Grewal tapes; more questions about authenticity

$1:
Tories have defended the covert recordings for days, but Conservative Deputy Leader Peter MacKay refused Friday to vouch for Grewal's credibility.

"Look, I'm not putting my faith in anyone in this entire matter," he said after audio experts said the tapes appear to have been altered.

"I'm not here defending anybody's veracity or whether the tapes are pristine.".............

Crooks crooking other crooks.

Yet more proof that MP Gurmant Grewal is NOT James Bond.

I didn't like this story as soon as it came out, sometimes when your so intent on burring someone else you forget your own ethics, If Grewal altered these tapes he should resign are be booted out of the tory cacuas, come on wasn't the bags of cash and Belinda getting instant Cabinetship enough fodder, a too be a conservitive one step forward now one step back.

DevilsAdvocate @ Mon Jun 06, 2005 7:57 pm

Doesn't Harper look like a schmuck now, hanging his hat on this guy as he did...

I do believe that there was Liberal wrongdoing on that tape. I do believe that Tim Murphy broke the law. I also believe that Grewal broke the law as well and removed that bit from the tape. As I said in another thread, this news story doesn't play very well for either of the parties that have held power in Canada.

BurytheNDPforgood @ Mon Jun 06, 2005 8:28 pm

I think Grewal is done.

This is a polite way to get him out of the way.

If he is really stressed, he won't come back. And if another election is called anytime soon ie. within the next 9 months or so, the Tories will not give him the option to run again.

Donny_Brasco @ Mon Jun 06, 2005 8:40 pm

Just goes to show you how honest the far right really is.

He'll resign in shame, then get a senate seat under the next con gov't.

Plus some moron will nominate him for the order of canada and he'll join that crook mulrony's club.

Statement by Stephen Harper
06 June 2005

OTTAWA – Conservative leader and Leader of the Opposition Stephen Harper issued the following statement today:

“Earlier today, Newton-North Delta MP Gurmant Grewal informed me in writing that he would be stepping down from his position as co-chair of the Standing Joint Committee for the Scrutiny of Regulations, while the current investigation takes place. I look forward to Gurmant reassuming these responsibilities when these matters are resolved.

“Subsequently, I have spoken with Gurmant. I have been aware that for some days now he has been feeling significant personal pressure. As a result, he and I agreed that he should take a temporary stress leave from his parliamentary responsibilities.

“I continue to urge the Prime Minister to take action to remove his Health Minister and Chief of Staff while the current investigation takes place.”

BurytheNDPforgood @ Mon Jun 06, 2005 9:03 pm

Is he from the same riding as Chuck Cadman?

Ridenrain, aren't you in Cadman's riding?

ridenrain @ Mon Jun 06, 2005 10:10 pm

Wait, why are you all throwing dirt on a warm body..
What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty?
Shouldn't we wait until the Gomery.. oops, Grewal trial is finished?

Kind of a double standard there?

Again, I stand by my original point:
We have a CD copy of the tapes that were inspected by a very questionable source, who is saying it has been altered, although they have no proof of what is supposed to be missing.
still...

We still have enough material to cast serious doubt and maybe legal charges on Prime Minister's chief of staff, Tim Murphy, and Health Minister Ujjal Dosanjh and maybe MP Gurmant Grewal. Unless it is proven that he acted illegally or immorally, I believe Gurmant Grewal should be protected under some form of whistleblower protection.

Unless the missing part includes someone saying "ha ha fooled you", it's pretty obvious that this was a bribe and that PMPM was aware of it. In anywhere but Bananada, this shameful display would never have got this far, the press would have eaten them up and the irate voters would have crapped them out.
Instead, we have weasel words like.."all of them do it" .or "better the devil that you know"...

MP Gurmant Grewal is in Newton North Delta.
I am in Chuck Cadman's Surrey Wally riding and I had a high opinion of him. Right now, it would appear that he has gone against everything that he wrote and worked for with that one vote. Without more to go on, I'll try to reserve my opinion of him but I don't think I will vote for him again.

LOL, run lemming run!!!

cbc news cbc news:
The Conservative party is claiming that secret recordings made by member of Parliament Gurmant Grewal appear to have been altered because of a technical glitch.

$1:
The Tories are defending the authenticity of the tapes in the wake of two audio experts who independently concluded that the secret recordings made by Grewal were edited.

You should read the whole article next time!

The whole shower of shite, Tory, Fiberal and NDP are total lying bastards. But hey, that is politics and its been that way since Simcoe started the first parliament in Newark in 1792.

In the corruption stakes the Liberals are well ahead, but the Tories are trying their best to catch up.

What a sorry state. We need an election right now.

I agree wholeheartedly but would it serve any purpose? As long as the liberals have all our money to give away they can just keep buying their way into power.....................Again!
