Harper and Dion have a LOT in common...
Saw this just now, and I laughed.

The Harper-Dion connection

Stephen Harper and Stéphane Dion have been portrayed by the media and their own parties as two diametrical individuals, as different from each other as one snowflake from another, well ... one a vegetable, one a fruit. This, in fact, is far from the truth.
They actually have so many things in common it goes well beyond just a coincidence. In fact, it's downright eerie. Take a look.
Both men have the same first name, Stéphane being Stephen in French.
Both men each have exactly 19 letters in their name, including their middle name. Stéphane Dion's middle name is Maurice. Stephen Harper's middle name is Joseph. Put together, they make Maurice Joseph, the name of the man they both claim is their favourite actor: Michael Caine, né Maurice Joseph Mickelwhite. Spooky isn't it?
Both men were born in months with 30 days. What are the odds?
Both men are connected through their births. The attending doctor at Stephen Harper's birth was a Doctor Dion. The attending doctor at Stéphane Dion's birth was a Doctor Harper.
Both men are related through pop music. Stephen Harper was born April 30, 1959, which was the same day one of the greatest songs in rock 'n' roll history was released: A Teenager in Love sung, by none other than Dion.
Stéphane Dion was born in 1955 on Sept. 28. Sept. 28 is the exact day in 1968 that the No. 1 hit single in North America became ... you guessed it, Harper Valley PTA. I don't know about you, but I'm getting goosebumps.
Although one was in Toronto and the other in Quebec City, both men belonged to the same activities in high school, such as annual Slide Rule Jamboree and Sleep Over.
Believe it or not, both men are such poor dancers that they both have over a billion hits on YouTube doing the Chicken Dance at weddings. Interpol has now banned both Harper and Dion from going onto the dance floor at a wedding when either The Chicken Dance or YMCA is played.
Both men have wives who did not change their name after marriage. Stéphane Dion's wife is Janine Krieber. Stephen Harper's wife is still known as Laureen.
Both men have brazenly lied about hockey. Stephen Harper claims to be a Calgary Flames fan, but secretly cheers for the Maple Leafs. Stéphane Dion tells anyone who will listen that he was the only man who has ever beaten Ken Dryden.
Interestingly enough, Stéphane Dion has never met Céline Dion and Stephen Harper has never met Valerie Harper.
It gets even freakier.
Both men have physical problems with their feet. Stéphane Dion has been unable to fill Jean Chrétien's shoes. Stephen Harper has become too big for his boots.
Both men have connections with gas. Stéphane Dion wants to reduce greenhouse gas. Stephen Harper once appeared on Corner Gas.
Both men are fervent in their support for the children of Canada. Stéphane Dion promises to double the child-care allowance to help children. Stephen Harper hires children to run the Conservative website.
Both men are campaigning to defeat their adversaries. Stephen Harper wants to stop Michael Ignatieff and Bob Rae from taking power. So does Stéphane Dion.
Both men's parties have identical polling numbers; Stephen Harper's party has a 4 and a 2. Stéphane Dion's party also has a combination of those same two numbers.
Both men have vital connections to the Liberal party. Stephen Harper began his political career as a Liberal in 1976. Stéphane Dion ended his political career as a Liberal in 2008.
Both men struggle with their country's other language. Stephen Harper still trips over French. Stéphane Dion has trouble with English. In order to communicate with each other, they both speak Norwegian.
Both men have astronauts on their slate of candidates. Stéphane Dion has Marc Garneau. Stephen Harper has Stockwell Day, who also took up space in school.
Finally, and most mysteriously, both men have a connection to the Kennedys. Stéphane Dion was elected leader in 2006 because a candidate dropped out of the running and endorsed him. The name of the candidate: Gerard Kennedy. Stephen Harper was a CBC panelist on Referendum Night 1995 in a studio next to the last taping of Front Page Challenge. The name of one of the panelists: Betty Kennedy.
Stephen Harper and Stéphane Dion; not opposites, but twins separated at birth.

Some are a bit of a stretch -- but I suppose that's the idea!
