Immigrating

The little lady and I are looking to move to Canada to escape the polution and crime that we in Houston Texas must live with. My wife is from Bermuda and knows less about Canada than I do. However we both know we don't want to move to Toronto because of the crime and the high numbers of Middle Eastern immigrants. I do business there 2 or 3 times a year and always find the streets not to my liking.
If you ya'll could move to anywhere in Canada, where would it be, and what is the political make up of that area. I would appreciate a serious response to this posting. The immigration would be easy for us as my mother was a Canadian from Winnipeg and my wife being from Bermuda means we are capable of getting those immigration papers very quickly. I am a wealthy man as well, having several million in the bank to invest when I get there. I want a good community where my black wife will be made to feel at home as she has here in Houston.
Now, mother always spoke highly of Winnipeg, but I must say I hate the cold. Is there someplace in Canada where the family dogteam is not required and the socialist government leans even a little bit towards those who worked hard for their money?

Yep, if you can handle letting go of +60% of your income to the various taxes then Victoria is about as good as it can get. Sooke or Sidney on the outskirts are quieter, but if you have the money you'll find Oak Bay to very charming. My wife and I bought a house there a few years back and enjoy it immensely when we are there.

I'd personally vote for Montreal. Best city I've been to in Canada.

Sorry little fella, I've already made my money. I'm purely in spending mode for the first few years. The rules say I must invest a percentage of what I bring in. I'm thinking I might invest my money in something like construction or mining black gold. I have a few years till I need to think about doing that.

Buy a small cat or grader and I'll get them working allmost everyday here in Alberta for the energy companies.

Nova Scotia (especially Cape Breton and the North Shore) are seeing a lot of people coming and buying land... mostly retired Europeans or Americans.
The land and cost of living is very cheap, and you can't beat the atmosphere in the Maritimes.... very friendly and relaxed.

Well, that's just what I made my money at here in Texas. I'm looking for something that requires a little less time involvement. I'm thinking about an IT company. Perhaps in the security field. I know little about computers, but I know my company servers needed improving to keep the hackers out. I'm sure the money I put into having them do the work could have paid for the early retirement of many people.

Have you been to Montreal? Because I practically live there sometimes and there's alot more than snow and lazy people.
Cant count how many times I have been to Montreal. I had some of my bets times right on Cresent st. and St. Laurent
