The figures for the Western provinces surprise me
Tories ahead by only 36 to 35!!! that's worse for them than at the last election pre-Gomery
Must have to do with the Federal Liberals bribing the East with taxpayers money.. AGAIN!

well what's your excuse for increasing Liberal support in the West then? oh let me guess another crooked polling company

Polls don't mean much, the Liberals are still corrupt, and Healthcare still needs to be fixed. Someone just needs to get on with fixing the country.

Unless I read that wrong it show's Liberal support in the west went from 36 to 35 percent. Wouldn't that be a decrease?

Don't look at me I've never voted for the f****rs in my life, in fact I'll vote for anyone who stands a chance of getting rid of them

That is true but the gap between Tories and Grits in the west narrowed from 5% to 1%. After all we hear about how the East is ignoring the Gomery scandal I find it amusing that the Tories are doing worse in the West than at the last election and the Liberals are doing better

Perhaps the voters are simply sick and tired of hearing the continual stream of anti-liberal propaganda coming from harper and the conservatives. Now before anyone starts sreaming at me I want you to keep a few things in mind. People get tired very easily with continual complaints. We all have an employee like that at work and sooner or later you begin to tune out everything he says. I see that here. I see harper losing the support of all swing voters who voted liberal last time but after gomery first happened went over to the conservative camp. The fact is the conservatives need
Liberals who are willing to vote conservative for a change but you won't get them if you continually attack
all liberals with a blanket charge of "your all crooks". That's why the conservatives own constituents told them to pass a budget that saw the conservatives get nothing. Even their own people were sick of it. If he wants to win support then he needs to quit the non-stop whinging and sniping. Many many months ago I attempted to discuss actual issues with conservatives on this forum but few were interested. They spent every chance they got
denouncing all liberals as crooks and called anyone who voted for them "idiots" Now I won't vote conservative for virtually any reason. I won't vote along side what I see as a bigotted view. You want to blame Chretein fine. You want to believe Martin is guilty fine. Blaming all liberals for the actions of a few iis no way to woo voters. Neither is blaming the "east" because they don't vote the way you think they should. Hell I think if Alberta had voted liberals then they would have lots of representatives in Ottawa right now instead of just opposition seats. You may hate the liberals but if your party cannot see past that to woo "swing-vote" liberals then you won't win the next election and don't deserve too. Harper has not done this and isn't doing it and every poll shows the liberals regaining position. I don't think this is a coincedence.

So they can follow Martini's marching orders, we all know that they can't even vote what they would like.
Harper is far to aggressive for the Canadian people. As has been said, Canadian's really want two Liberal Parties, one in government, and one ready to take over if they get tired of the first one. The Conservatives have moved right, even if simply in appearance alone. Picking Harper was a bad choice, not because he's stupid because I think he's dangerously smart, but because he represented in most people's minds the far right-wing. In PR you should never wait until after there is a problem to start putting out the positive stuff. If Harper wanted to lead a moderate party, he should have started remaking his image BEFORE he was elected leader.
Martin on the other hand, is lucky that he's the leader of a party with a long history of success. The Liberal's increase in the polls have nothing to do with him or his leadership (if you want to call it that), but have more to do with Canadian's enjoying their summer break. People vote Liberal by default in this country because they know what they are getting. A party that is smack dab in the middle and shifts from left to right depending on the prevailing political winds of this country - sucking the air out of whatever party happens to their.

As in "people", you mean people from Ontario & Quebec. All the Lib's need is to secure those two and the gravy train's still on the tracks.
"What they are getting" is bribed with the $8 BILLION SURPLUS that they horded away by not supporting the provinces, healthcare, the RCMP, the Military, etc, etc, etc. That is taxpayers money that they will use to bribe voters in their run up to the election.
We have numerous examples of federal liberal corruption and they are the problem. You can all rant against Harper all you like but that's just a distraction. I'd agree that all Feral Liberals are not criminals or corrupt but we're not seeing any speak out. Is the price of leaving the gang too high?
If you feel left out, out there in BC, think about how left out Manitoba is with it's 1.7 million people. The West gets lots of attention, more than it's population would warrent at times. I have a hard time with this Western vs Eastern thing, it seems to me that BC and Alberta are very much different, and Saskatchewan and Manitoba is very much different than anyone else.
Whether the "West"
likes it or not, the majority of the Canadian population can not stand the Conservatives as they exist right now. And I agree it's not just Harper's fault. BUT as every political scientist in this country will tell you, people vote first for the party leader, then the party, then the local candidate. That's the order of preference. Yes their are some acceptions, but for the most part that's how Canadians vote.
It's just lucky for the Liberals that Martin had a good reputation when he took over the leadership.
Mind you, regardless of leadership for either party, I wouldn't vote for them.
I'll never vote Con because I'm still bitter about a certain short-sighted deuchbag who let the Americans pressure him into canceling Canada's most ambitious project to date. Not to mention a certain economical system that makes about as much sense as my ass on Mars.

Ahem...
The West Liberals 35%, Tories 36%, now I'm pretty sure that's worse for the Tories than 2004 and way better for the Liberals but hey don't let the figures get in the way of your anti-Eastern bias.
