PM: Ottawa will respect Kyoto bill

OTTAWA (CP) - Prime Minister Stephen Harper says his government will respect the Kyoto climate change bill passed Wednesday by the Commons, even though it's a toothless measure.

The bill, which gives the government 60 days to come up with a plan to meet Canada's obligations under the Kyoto Protocol, was passed by the united opposition over the strong objections of Harper and his Conservatives. The prime minister says he'll respect the bill when, and if, it passes the Senate and gets royal assent to become law.

However, he adds, the bill provides no plan of action, nor does it give the government the authority to spend a cent to develop such a plan.

The prime minister says the government will bring in a national system regulations to control both greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution in a way that will preserve jobs and the economy.

   

Unfortunately Harper thinks the only gas worth contolling is the gas out of George W's ass --- I mean he is up it enough --
screw the environment , screw Canada -- save a few bucks - for the rich and fuck the rest..... remember Diefenbucks ?

   

hmmmmm....Ya, I was really upset when I heard he was responsible for the sponsorship thefts...The way he filled his pockets and kept his rich Conservative friends in the constant cash flow was quite disheartening....Wait a minute, that was the Liberal Leadership of Chretien....Hey Kenmore, you sure about your choice in party. i think you got the names mixed up because it's the Liberals that are theives, not the conservatives. Its the Liberals that lied to the people, not the Conservatives. Perhaps you should go to www.conservatives.ca and read the party platform. And unlike the Liberals that get their support from corporations, the Conservatives get their support from the people....You know, the people that pay taxes, not the corporations that got billions in tax funding under the liberals...Bombardier would be dead if it not for the liberals giving them billions in funding. In return, Bombardier ensured money came back to the party for support. May I suggest you know your government history.

   

I've supported the Liberals in the past, but they have really messed up this time. This 'we are the environment defenders' attitude is pathetic.
