"Conservative leadership hopeful Peter MacKay is calling for an apology through a lawyer over information in an article in The Post Millennial, a digital news website, on the party’s leadership race.
Mr. MacKay has retained legal counsel to say an April 27 report titled “Leaked Polling Report Shows MacKay’s Support Plummeting, O’Toole Takes the Lead" is defamatory and provides an “entirely false and misleading impression to any reader.
The Post Millennial said Friday the article was fair and that the website would not apologize for it..."
There's more at the article. It's worth reading all the way to the bottom. Should be interesting to see who comes out on top at the end of it.

MacKay looks terrible doing this. Politicians should not consider using the libel laws for anything less than a false accusation of a serious crime. It's the kind of nonsense you might expect in the British Isles where people run to their lawyers all the time trying to shut journalists up.
Can somebody, anybody, please explain to me what people see in Peter MacKay?
This is incredibly poor judgement on his part. I'm sure N_Fiddledog can tell us what happened every time Ezra Levant got sued. The lawsuits didn't deter Levant from continuing to speak. He used them to raise his political profile by portraying himself as a free speech martyr.
All MacKay is doing is raising the Post Millennial's profile, including drawing attention to the article that says O'Toole is winning the race. More people will get interested in the article and read it. That's pretty basic stuff-trying to cover up or suppress something like this will just draw more attention to it.
So again, WTF does anybody see in MacKay in the first place?
There is a reason why Peter never took the reigns.
The post millennial is another far-right garbage dump full of nothing but horseshit. But I don’t see MacKay accomplishing anything here. The kind of people who read that rag won’t be swayed by any outcome
Post Milennial. Peter McKay.
Yawn-o-meter is at level 8.
