In looking at some of the recent poll numbers, and given how the two parties are probably not that far apart on actual political policy, I think it may be to the mutual benefit of the Greens and the NDP if the two parties joined. Their combined support in one recent poll would put them almost neck-and-neck with the Liberals. With such support, the new Green/NDP party could legitimately argue to center-left/left-leaning voters that they have a real shot this time of getting a heck of a lot of seats, and that the old Liberal appeal of taking votes from them to stop the Reform/Alliance/Conservatives is now moot.

What do you all think?

Fuck! If that happened, I'd probably...

Actually, I'd give up the Liberals compeltely and go join the... Uhh.. Environmental Pinko Party of Canada, :D

Maybe more like the Green Democratic Party (GDP).

You guys do know that the Green party was founded by EX-Progressive Conservatives? Just because a party wants to protect the enviroment doesnt mean that is a bunch of lefties.

The greens originally had a very conservative economic plan as part of their platform, but recently has morphed into a very leftish NDP-type economic plan. This actually goes a long way to explaining the shift of some NDP types to the greens and of some green types to the conservatives.

The greens are becoming the new softer left for those in the NDP who are getting tired of some of the ridiculous elements of the NDP! Jack has to be concerned!

Maybe all parties should be erased and start over. :P

The Greens are not as far as the NDP and wouldn't be to their benefit to join those loons.

The grits should clean up or kick everyone out and start fresh instead of hanging onto old relics. Honestly Justin Trudeau running this shows they are still living in the past and hanging onto brand names.

The Tories have made a new party from the old PC and Reform and seem to be somewhere in between the two.

Oh and the Bloc well they are the Bloc they don't do a whole lot and have no purpose other than to foresee Quebec's removal from Canada. For now the French just keep paying them to sit there waiting for this transfer which may never happen.

Then there are some other parties Western Independence, Canadian Action, Some native one, communists, Christian Heritage, and some others.

Here is a question which of the little parties would you vote for besides the main ones and the greens?

Marijuana or Canadian Action. The former because I believe that Marijuana is no more dangerous than cigarettes or alcohol and so should be legalized, commercialized, taxed, and enjoyed. The latter because they stand for a strong, independent Canada with no NAFTA.

Well if smoking is already being banned everywhere I see no point in introducing another drug. The Canadian Action party is interesting. I'm surprised Mr.Canada doesn't vote for them that might be right up his alley. As for NAFTA I already wrote the former minister of finance about that and he said we have gained billions being part of it and provided jobs so doubt that is ever going away. Although I like fair trade better than free trade.

As for me Id probably vote for a western independence party or maybe something else not sure.

Anyone who wants to smoke pot already does.
Legalizing it is fine(but unlikely, the Americans you know,) but why in the world would someone pay taxes to buy pot when it is just so pleantiful everywhere tax free .And certainly in a lot of cases, completly free
And very very potent

Well I think the Canadian Action Party and the Liberal Party of Canada should join forces.

would the combining of the two parties make this new party strong enough to gain control and obtain the PM's position?

wada..you'd be amazed how much flack i get supporting harper yet trash-talking g.w.bush just as the pathetic pipsqueak deserves..which as i'm sure you can imagine makes me a "phony right-wing"..as my profile indicates i'm in the center and what disqualifies me from being welcome from the far right is i support lax marijuana laws,i question authority be it courts, cops or the govt itself and i stand by the rights of all ppl regardless of non-disqualifying handicaps, race religion(except islam),sexual orientation and sex and i condemn war-mongering
