I know of many first responders that use one hand opening knives because it doesn't make reasonable sense to use two hands in an emergency.

   

Maybe they're using these joke regulations as a test bed for a new crack at a firearms registry. Y'know, fuck up the rules on knives to such a ridiculous degree as practice so that when they get around to guns again they'll be even dumber, all with an estimated $4 billion cost instead of the mere $2 billion it took with the first registry go-around.

Don't laugh. They probably really are that fucking stupid to do it all over again with the only difference being that it'll end up much, much worse than before.

   

The problem is the knife community is much smaller. There won't be as big of an outcry to MPs over this nonsense as there would be for a bad registry.

   

Somebody who is smarter than the average Disney/NASA/Hollywood graduate could make the dickbags answer to this: "...which includes gravity, centrifugal," nonsense.

   

I have two of these type of knives. One stays in the box where I keep my camping/outdoor gear, the other in my car (with my tool bag). Banning this type of knife is beyond ridiculous.

They want to ban something dangerous? Ban the freaking kirpan. Large, deadly blade, and also concealed.

The priorities in this country have started to go quite backwards.

Who doesn't own a buck 110? Or at least a knock off. Shit those things have been around for over 50 years, and get passed often from father to son. And some of the new creations that these companies are creating will as well.

   

Back in 1994, my dad, grandfather and I all bought the same knife (like the one pictured) from the same store. It's amazing how family is really intertwined in these. The two knives I mentioned are the same ones. I have mine and my late grandfather's, and my dad still has his.

Can't imagine not having one. If I ever get around to getting married and having a son, I'll pass mine down to him at the right age.

Exactly. I own some pretty high end knives, and will continue to buy them regardless of this dumb decision. I'd have no problem passing this on to later generations. My grandfather has carried a vic classic every day of my life at the very least, and I intend on passing that mindset on.

   

I wonder what they'll say about my BenchMade mini Barrage 585 assisted opening knife......

   

Well F*** me sideways. In a couple threads over the years I predicted this. Sarcastically I would post after a knife attack that Knives would be banned because it follows the lefts logic in regards to guns.

When I carried a purse I always had an army knife in there. My dad would natter on about concealed weapons. I was in college the corkscrew was far more important to me than the rest. Besides finding anything in a purse in a timely manner is impossible. In my last job I always had a pocket knife came in handy to open boxes. My boys got decorative pocket knives for gifts as babies. I don’t think I know any one who doesn’t own a pocket knife. Or 20 different knives for different things. All my kids did a safety course through scouting for knives. This is really getting silly when they start going after tools. I guess I had better show the article to my family

   

That why I qualified it, with 'mine'. All my folding knives are quite tight. It's hard enough finding the fingernail indents, let alone prying the blade open without losing said fingernail.

I agree. But I can see this panel trying to regulate the unregulatable. That's what panels of non-experts do.



A fixed blade of over 4 1/2 inches has been illegal to carry for as long as I've been aware. I also never had any intention of using a blade as a weapon against humans. I've also never owned a blade that had one of those thumb studs. My knives are just fine, never saw the need to replace them with anything newer.

But I have a few that might be considered short swords. Back when I was cutting meat, we always had a 'frenching' or 'steak' knife, which is as long as your forearm + hand, and nearly as wide. It can cut a steak from the whole diameter of a cows' boned out back leg, in one slice. I also have a boning knife, that is like a fish filleting knife, but thicker and longer, and can cut through the leg bone of a sheep or goat with ease.

All of these are tools, but all could be used as weapons if needed. Trying to classify many 'knives' as one or the other is idiotic. Many could be 'weapons' only, but the vast majority could be used either way.

   

Hard to believe that Canadians were not so long ago considered the most fearsome warriors in the Western world.

Now you people are devolving into a bunch of dickless pussies who all too readily surrender your rights to a bunch of unelected feminized douchebags.

Sad that good Canadian men bled and died so you people could make yourselves into sheep.
