I picked up this Idea from a other Forum.
The guy proposes the dissolution of the Quebec parliament and the division of its land mass between the neighboring provincies.
In short the annexation of Quebec before they seperate.
And I wanted to know what you guys thought about it.
Here's the article: http://www.canadadivided.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=563
Here's an image
hehe, that would go over well I'm sure.
NO! that's a direct violation of our provincial sovereignty. Not only would quebecers dislike this but most canadians would as well
Well, it may happen regardless. The Cree may not be particularly well disposed to sepaartion; they could probably get a better deal from Canada than they could from Quebec. So they might leave and take their territory withe them. Montreal isn't crazy about separation. So if Quebec can uniltaerally separate, so could Montreal and any other region that wnats to stay with Canada. Might not be much left of Quebec after everyone's done separating.
Quebec was already annexed or New France was. I don't think putting the southern most populous and French part of Quebec in the Ontario legislature would be beneficial. We already tried that over hundred years ago and not many people liked it.
Maybe take that lower French portion and let that be it's own country. Then take the other northern and northeastern part by Labrador and either make a new territory or make Labrador and that into a separate province?
well, the province of Quebec would have to support it, otherwise I'd be standing on the border defending Quebec and not Ontario. I wouldn't want the rest of Canada doing it to me so I'll stand up if they do it to someone else
Why are we annexing Quebec? Besides, the same constitutional arguments used against Quebec separatists can be applied here.
Allways the same old arguments.
Native land, is quite a mute point. I wouldnt cry the loss. They have Iron Claw deals with Hydro-Québec, that are made to survive such an event. The Cree, since the treaty of ''La Paix des Braves'', have given up all claims to the territory where the Hydro-Dams are built to the Québec Governement.
So their importance, is again, mute.
As for the topic at hand, no one wants to open the constitution.
The natives gave up any claim? Oh, I think they'll beg to differ, particularly if Quebec unilaterally separates. After all...if Quebec can unilaterally separate, why can't the Cree?
And it's "moot" not "mute."
No, wait until they separate, then invade and take them over again.
BAM! Civil war.
No.
